Was the Severance Worth the Last Two Years of Agony?

In my case I would say------"Hell Yes, See Ya Suckers"

What agony? Probably the best two years with Roche/Genentech. Big bucks, little accountability, no call goal/frequency bullshit, great meetings, great boss, and on top of all that a great severance. Agony my ass. Genentech was a really cool place to work.

Such a brilliant statement, your parents and your kids must be so proud of you.

I'm missing Genentech already...I did not want a severence, I wanted to stay...so for those that felt this was an "agony", are probably those that were lazy, old or both!

Oh Please!!! This is the worst company to work for. Severance sucks ! Most of it is taxed too high. Oh and don't you love that your insurance was cut the day you were termed until you sign the lousy cobra package which we received a week later. So it takes them 3-5 days to process this cobra agreement and then 1-2 weeks for the insurance companies to reinstate you. So do not fill any prescriptions, become ill or have you or family members need any medical attention until you are sure that you are covered again. Have never had this happen with any other company. Oh and check your last pay stub. My car was picked up before the 15th. the last paycheck dates June 16 thru the 21. Was charged for the car even though I did not have it in my possesion. Honestly, Genentech is a company that I would never recommend to work for and I will never have anything good to say about it or its lousy products. Arrogant bastards.

The only regret was the naive, koolaid drinking managers who actually bought the story they'd be a part of Dal if they produced good numbers their last 18 months. Some realized it was all a story to keep the worker bees' heads down and working, but a few really thought it was true. Don't you feel stupid now, middle management? Do you always fall for any implausible story that is presented to you as part of the company line? Don't you wish you'd have been more prepared for the end when it happened?

You can't fix stupid.

So you really cared more about yourself than the patients. And trust me, Roche had command of all of the above "problems" you had. Poor you. With that attitude you wouldn't be happy anywhere.

Oh and you are in this for the patients? Please, you care about your financial future as much as I did. It is a frickin job. I will be happy anywhere I land. Because I am out of Roche/Genentech. Loser organization with losers like you still working there.

The severance checks were finally deposited. Thank You Roche! Despite all the bashing going on in this thread, we should recognize Roche tried to do everything right. We had 10 weeks WARN more than the 60 Days, an adjusted Q1 Bonus, Q2 Bonus @Target, added Medical Credits for select gap groups, the better of either severance plan Gene or Legacy Roche. Cobra @100% Paid is better than most! The talent in this remaining group is highly evident as those that have pursued pharma opportunities have readily landed lucrative job offers the severance a mere parting gift. Thank You Genentech!

Getting a nice severance payment...
Having medical paid....
Having Q2 bonus paid....

The above are nice, but that's nothing compared to never again hearing my idiot micro-manager's voice again on a meaningless conference call or getting an unintelligible email, or having field trips where the manager is a liability that hurts your sales. These items are priceless. When you have a manager that has been promoted above their skill level, the company suffers and your personal life suffers. I am still amazed that some of the Roche Legacy managers could hide within the company as long as they did with histories of sustained poor sales performance and terrible HR records.
