It literally took me 30 minutes to figure out where this site was. Had to call an old colleague as I have never been a sales representative, but worked closely with them in the past. There was an internal document that leaked a bit. At least 1/4 of the sales force will be let go by December if sales numbers don't reach a certain level. Not sure of what that level is and I am not going to try to guess. A few of you know me by the nickname Gypsy and you know what department I work in. I just don't want anyone blindsided and it pisses me off. It may be as much as 1/2. The sales management team will be reduced to 1/2 of what they are. They simply don't need a manager that only has a sales team of 5 or 6 people. I am very angry how people's lives are played with and want to give everyone every opportunity to find something else.

Phase 2: Sales Force/Sales Manager Reduction - time phase till next Adjustment (2 quarters) ending Approximately June 2013

Phase 3: Last Resort - Product Sold Quickly at Low Price - Disolution of assets. Sales Force/Sales Management mailed copies of signed document waving all earned bonus. No Severance Package.

Thanks for the information Stevie Nicks, but as I recall the field force has the most job security of any department in the company.

I don't think the poster was implying that all the sales force would be fired, but I have heard that they plan on eliminating a lot of positions. My own manager told me this! This post appears to me to be very factual. Many companies eliminate a large percentage of sales people in an effort to increase revenue for the investors. I don't think it is necessary to trash someone for giving information.

I believe this post to be accurate. The previous 2 reductions in sales force when management fired/forced reps out were in Dec 2011 and June/July 2012 The timeline above correlates with the history of what has already happened--reductions every 6 months. Sales are not growing, pharmacy is not going away.

Beware--who knows if reductions will be based on sales/talent. Take a look at the ranking report. Some of the lowest ranked reps (and highest salaried reps) are good old boys from Randy's Genentech and Scios days...and they're still here while others have been forced out. Hmmmmmmmmmm?
 






Look at ranking report that just came out--we are down to 132 reps (we started with 147). The report ends with 139 reps but there are numbers missing in report...131, 127, 122, 94, 85, 63, etc.

Company will have another reduction by December because sales are not growing. Q2 bonus checks will be the last one for some reps and managers.

I've been in the industry for many years and price increases once or twice a year is not a standard practice, especially a drug that is under-performing expectations. Perhaps that might be the case with a block-buster drug that exceeds expectations. The ting of the price increase should be obvious to everyone. The price increase was yet another attempt to temporarily satisfy the investors/market in hopes to hit the 13 million mark. This is the first attempt and if the numbers fail then there will be a reduction. The reduction will be another attempt to get closer to break-even. If the company continue to show losses quarter after quarter, the options become less and less.

Actually, I heard they weren't filling the Dallas territory and the surrounding reps are absorbing that open territory. Merry Christmas to those surrounding reps. More gifted accounts!

Randy, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and to set the record straight to all the reps. At the end of the day here, the goal is to keep everyone on the hook so they are selling for us till the very last minute and then Slammo! We hit them with a layoff and no severance. Let's stick to the plan and ruin a lot of people lives and their families and hit them hard before they have the opportunity to find something else. Have you decided which would be more fun Thanksgiving or Christmas time?
