• Make it like cafepharma, but for different industries: over the years we’ve had suggestions for creating a site similar to cafepharma, but for different industries. Now there is a place. Check out CompanyUnderground for company forums in other industries. Don’t see a company? Request it here. Let your friends and family outside the pharma/medical sales space know they now have a safe, anonymous place to talk.

Warning to all appliants!

Suspect this is a better gig for managers than for reps.

Bet managers are making the rate of a good big pharma rep job. Suspect more opportunities for advancement and movement into new contracts for managers too, but dont think this is so for reps.

From what I see the ideal rep here might be 23 years old looking to break into pharma or the 65 year old or better looking to stay busy while collecting ss checks! Both see the salary and benefits a good deal. For others it can be tough with the range of pay and instability of contract.

Thoughts?

Suspect you are motherfucking moron. Suspect you are a product of fetal alcohol syndrome. Thoughts?

Publicis will always search your background using a service called The Work Number.
They searched my background three times - even when I did not get an interview for a position for which I applied. Once they had my personal information, a person working there used it to apply for a Discover Visa card.
I kid you not. It took me months and months to get it straightened out.

Gotta love Publicis, Ventiv, Quintiles, PDI...

bottom feeders. no future with any of them. And a resume Killa.

Very true. This place is the last stop on the pharma shit train. If you can't do better than this disaster then just go work in a mall kiosk.

After 15 years of selling, its easy to see now that pharmaceutical sales has to be one of the worst sales jobs out there. A bad, high paying job.
Also, medical device sales is at the same level in many was as pharmaceutical sales, because of the overpriced product, micromanagement, and jack asses in that industry.

For example, payroll sales, food sales, and telecommunication sales are vastly superior to the pharmaceutical industry, mainly because their products don't kill people and are needed for businesses to grow.

Overall, my guess is that insurance sales is the way to go, because of the residual business and demand for the product. It is a bit sleazy, but all industries today are for the most part. Payroll sales is not sleazy, and it is a great product because it brings value to an organization by not getting them tied down with paperwork, allowing them to focus on growing their business.

What to do? Where to go? I know it ain't this place!

Hard to find a legit, good company to work for these days. That is for sure.

Unless you are a legit, good employee. Then it's easy. Funny how that works.

Absolutely true! That must be why you keep posting here...because you have such a fantastic career with Publicis? Are you "a legit, good" HR employee whose easy or "a legit, good" manager who thinks its funny when you don't work? It's quite amusing how that is...

Remember HR is your friend. They are here to help. Companies could not run without HR departments. They love people and are vital to the success of the company and the happiness of the employee! Just look at all they do! Their performance speaks for itself.

Nice post, and I agree..

Here is my take on this place. I worked here for a few months, before jumping ship after I saw the mess...and I took the gig because it was when the economy just tanked, and there was nothing good out there...

Anyone that stays with PUBLICIS is digging a grave for themselves if they want a sales career down the line.
I hear gSK doesn't even rank its reps. either. What a joke.

My advice for all: start applying for other sales jobs. If you are in a big market (LA, NYC, Chicago, etc, then you will have no problem finding a good gig. Have confidence in yourself and get out there and get to work. Tell you what, payroll sales, elevator sales, hvac sales are all better than pharma. sales for too many reasons to list...

get out of this industry now...unless you are semi-retired and don't care about your career, or if you ready to retire, or if have no confidence in yourself.

recent graduates or those looking to break into medical sales are KILLING their resume with this place. Go to a good payroll company and start there...

because these companies will show you how to sell, in business to business. at pub..you will only learn how to cut corners, get treated like crap, have no future, and you are selling products that do more harm than good.

good luck all. stop being so naive as to what you are dealing with at pub, ventiv, quintiles, pdi, etc...they are not places you want to start at, be in, or end up in.

The place isn't great, but not that bad either.
