Walk Away?

You are absolutely correct grasshopper (been here 30). You who grouse about no COLA are being incredibly naive. ...

Been here for 30 years too and am Asian American. I am tired of this grasshopper shit. It may sound funny because you have watched all that crappy half wit Kung Fu TV series starring that drug addict David Carradine pretending to be a martial art expert. All his moves were choreographed and he was better in smoking weeds than wielding a sword. This grasshopper word is very racial stereotype and most Asians find it offensive. We usually try not to say anything because we know the dumb white folks enjoy tossing that in after they have watched that stupid TV series. But as a 30-year veteran and a professional I would kindly suggest that you want to think twice before using it for fun next time around, especially with Asians.

I am not a big fan of unions but they do help with COLA and age discrimination. Most people hate paying the dues because that is all they are good for. The wrong union in place could implode a company.

I agree. Union has done many great things. It has gotten out of hand in recent decades.

I was joking in my last post. Anyone that have been around long enough would know, a non-union salaried worker at Merck does not get COLA in annual pay nor pension.

True, as Bill Parcells stated "I am sorry of I offended any orientals" when he was coaching the Cowboys.

I had no idea that the word was a racial stereotype and that most Asians find it offensive. That was the first time I had used the word and like I said, just meant it to be silly, nothing more. After reading your post, it will be the last time I use it. I had heard someone call somebody "asshopper" and found it funny at the time, but no more. By the way, its use had nothing to do with an Asian person and was only an attempt at humor. My young adult children also have admonished me not to use the word Oriental to describe someone's ancestry as it too, has a negative association. Again, I meant no offense and thought it was simply describing someone with family ties from the Orient or Far East. I had no idea about that either and now use Asian to indicate someone from the Orient. So again, let me apologize for offending you. You may consider me a more educated white person!
