Vest Study! What is really going on??

HAHA! Study start date 2008 with goal of 1900 patients. 7 years to get 1900 patients? Isn't there a huge market with tons of patients just clamoring for a wearable defibrillator? That's what my recruiter said.

If I take my current average revenue per patient and divide it by my segment quota it works out to ~10 patients per segment to hit my number. If we make a few assumptions (like Zoll not raising my quota or splitting my territory), and start it in 2008, the VEST investigators should be able to get the 1900 required patients from my territory alone.

WEIRD...

it's not weird, just not relevant. Considering that you could enroll the same patient across multiple blind studies (e.g. RX, stent, WCD, HIT, etc.) without invalidation, it shows you 1.) Zoll is too cheap to make it relevant to screen or absorb costs, 2.) it is a frivolous boon-doggle to be associated with or put patients through to receive useless results.

Obviously it wasn't glaringly obvious that my comment was covered in sarcasm...

I was mocking the lack of desire to have the VEST trial conclude! Once it does Lifevest is done!

I think the poster was agreeing with your comment and that the vest isn't relevant (not your comment being non-relevant). They are right because if the LV were to be something it would have already and the trials would have multiple iterations (arms) etc.

Maybe this Vest trial won't help us at all. How many years have they been saying it will be completed next year? In fact, they used this trial to sell me on coming here. That was three years ago and we're still being told it's coming. Next year could mean 2025.

It's coming. No really, it's coming. Really. Almost here. Wait for it.
