The problem with you is that you are new to this site and are silly enough to believe everything you read. I know for a fact that a very large amount of the post are made up or out of context. You think that you just discovered gold by reading this site but reader be aware is my only advice. The other sad thing is that you are basing your opinion of all of Genentech on a few CS that you've met and what you read on CP. That's really unfortunate because people like me or other readers could think all pharmacists are as arrogant and rude as you are but I know better ... at least I hope they aren't all narrow minded as you. Needless to say this is a site for Genentech employees to communicate so do yourself a favor and get a life and maybe join some pharmacy organization where everyone can be delusional and talk about how great they are and how many lives they save each day! It's a new year; why don't you try something different and care about someone other than yourself because based on your posts, that is clearly the case?
Sadly, you are quite wrong concerning the three examples that were posted. All were true and in the majority of cases, involved Genentech Compliance and outside legal counsel from Washington, DC. We have a major problem with unethical behavior, with many issues in the Midwest, many include the Division manager that showed up to work for three hours in an 11 month period. More examples:
We had a situation in the Midwest where we paid a salary for an employee to fly to a rural area of her Territory and she placed fake calls. The flight originated from Minneapolis. The clinic she reported on, she listed a physician that left a year earlier for Maine, a Pharmacist that worked at a Mercy Hospital two hours away and a NP that worked for US Oncology. We paid for a flight and airline miles, a hotel and hotel points for fraudelent calls.
There was a division meeting in the Midwest in which as employee referred a physician from a teaching hospital as "He speaks broken english, he is hard to understand, he is so stupid". We do not believe that an Asian Physician that does not speak english like someone from the Midwest is stupid. This is racially offensive. I want to make sure that everyone is clear, we do not condone racially offensive comments here at Genentech. This was a division with a manager and 8 employees, all caucasian. I am very happy that someone had the courage to report this racist incident. Race hate should not be tolerated at Genentech. The interesting item here is, the Regional manager for the DM and employee involved is Asian.
Then we had the employee that join us from Amgen. The indiviual turned over proprietary information from Amgen. Genentech Compliance and HR had to come in and ask everyone involved with the hiring process to destroy the Amgen Proprietary documents showing loyalty discounts. This is terrible that the perception is Genentech is now selling on the "Spread". I know that the Kadcyla Marianne trial failed and many may be feeling a little to desparate to sell at all cost. The Amgen loyalty sheets clearly were marked and I am not sure why a manger would hire someone involved in this activity. One thing is clear, you do not have to be able to read to be a manger at Genentech.
Then the manager that was involved in not showing to work was involved with one of his employees in approving a display fee for a Yoga talk and gift cards for nurses, including nurses that are state employees in a state with a gift law. Just stunning such unethical activity happening at Genentech. I am not sure how this manager keeps his job. The RM, HR represtative and compliance are all aware. This is sad that Cancer patients are providing a paycheck to this individual.
The good thing about uncovering this unethical and potentially fraudulent activity is critical as we look at future reorganizations, we can cut at least 20-25% of the sales force and save at least 50-75 million dollars. There is no reason to pay for hotel and airline points for this type of activity on the backs of Cancer Patients.
The other item that is a real concern here at Genentech is so many employees are aware of this activity and no one is speaking up. There is a process at Roach on the Speak Up hotline. Looking the other way as unethical activity is going is simply wrong. By looking the other way, you are no different than the individual involved with the unethical behavior.
