US Labs

Look for the Genzyme upper management to stay around and their counterparts at uslabs let go. Look at the numbers, Labcorp paid over 900 mil for Genzyme and 200 mil for uslabs. Labcorp will go with the higher company to keep them in tack and save face.

Uslabs has not made their number in over 3 years so they are expendable, why not cut the dead away.

Now it’s time for Uslabs to see what Genzyme will do to them like Uslabs did to Dianon.

“What comes around goes around” How does it feel to be on the other side of the fence now?

Good luck in selling yourself since you will be the second team. Labcorp has more money invested in Genzyme than uslabs, so where do you think they will look for guidance.

Anyone around who was with US before Labcorp came in?

Anyone who was originally with US Labs prior to being acquired by Labcorp, can you speak to what changed for you with the acquisition specifically? salary, lay offs, comp plan etc. I am trying to decide if making a leap to the unknown is worth it. I am in the interview process with Genzyme on the reproductive side when this announcement was made about Labcorp taking over.

Oh my god. US Labs is DEAD. They only get business by bundeling with the clinical business from LabCorp. They offer Clinical at pennies on the dollar and then the US LAB rep goes for the Pathology business. We are just waiting to see how LabCorp butchers Genzyme.
I would be really scared to be in Oncology/ Pathology right now. Once GE merges Clarient into its fold, they will be an unstoppable force. GE Owns the hospital Marketplace in the US. they also have great Radiation Oncology and Surgical Oncology product Pipelines. Combine that with clarient and their new company applied Genomics and watch out world. Just wait for a Clarient representative to show up with a Pose of GE representatives when they are working on a big hospital/health network bid...Oh my god its a beautiful site, I have seen it from the X-Ray side. They just take over all across the board. I think Labs like CBL that are dying right now and trying to copy the Clarient Model, will all be out of business in 2-3 years. Oh and if Abbott or siemens tries to buy NeoCrapgonomics, they will realize what a second class group they are. Believe me as a Pathology Department Admin and a former sales representative for a pathology lab, I wish I worked for Clarient. Plus from what I hear all their reps and employees are getting wealthy on their Stock Options right now. Oh and Plus is starting to fall apart. all those Pod labs they are starting, well they have completely internalized and thrown PLUS and CBL and Bostwick out!!

Are the labs still open at all? Haven't they all been renamed LabCorp reps? Is there a NSM this year or just regional meetings? If a USL rep leaves and no one notices does it really happen?

So now ex Dianon BDE's are getting RMBD positions for USL in the Northeast. And you expect to compete with Clarient, GenPath and other labs with trained managers that grew up in the pathology business? Another stellar display of decision making and allocation of talent.

Do you think Labcorp bought Genzyme to pad it with USLabs so they can sell out to big Pharma?
Seems Pharma is starting to buy molecular labs, Clarient, Genoptix, and Genzyme diagnostics was being sought by Sanofi. Are they looking at the data bases of patients to see how R &D will interact with lab test to see how drugs will work in the future?
Could it be Pfizer?

first of all novartis DOES NOT own Genoptix yet. It has to be approved etc. I bet this all takes until Q2. Second of all, the real threst to you guys is GE-CLARIENT. GE HealthCare is a 17 billion dollar company and GE overall is $157 billion. GE is in Radiology suites, EMR software for Hospitals and Physicians offices and Nuclear Medicine. they are also the favorites of the US GOV't. If you have GE come into an area and sell software to the offices, nuclear medicine to the hospital, X-ray and PET-scan to the Radiology office and then Clarient with Laboratory Pathology Testing etc.. HOW DO YOU EXPECT any of us will compete? The Novartis deal will not help, neither will all these sonic buy outs, not even Mckesson owning US Oncology. This GE thing scares the C$%^P out of me!

no pharma company will buy as Lab business in their world is bottom of the barrel !! Never happen .Pharma is at a much higher standard and would never tolerate this type of business NEVER HAPPEN Lab business is not PHARMA !!! Everyone knows this .
