Uh Oh ITMN

Do you all have any idea how hard it is to find a DECENT job giving you a W2 of 120K or higher in this market? There are literally 100s of people applying to each one of these positions. Not only are the employed people applying but the unemployed. It is much more difficult to find a job when you dont have a job... 60K pre OR post tax is peanuts.

Your point as it relates to InterMune is?

Spoke with my boss today and she told me that these were just rumors and the Intermune has no plans to sell. Nice to have my manager lie to me so early in our relationship.

We all know that they will sell, but the question is when will it happen? I had a feeling that this was going to be a temporary job, but one that I could make and save a lot of money. I received a significantly higher base salary, but my base currently is still pretty good. I am very confused on what to do. Bottom line is that most candidates with good or decent jobs will not come on board unless they hear something concrete. So come September 2nd, half of the sales force they hired will have jumped shipped.

Did you think you were getting 5,000 RSU's? Reps do not make $$ on options on companies launching new products, guess you never worked for a public company before launching a new product that is their only product??
What a nimkumpoop

"make and save a lot of money" lolol

If you come here and get laid off 2, 3, 6, months later it will be very difficult to get back to that same level of income as well as stable job you left assuming that was the case. I thought my post was very intuitive regarding the message I was trying to get across.

If bought by Sanofi that would suck. The others would be bearable. Man, that turned rather quickly, I knew it was risky, but this really shows extreme risk now.

If Actelion buys this company you will NOT
have a job. They have a PAH sales force with
All the skills and relationships to sell this drug
not to mention a reimbursement team set up with
Everything needed to launch this drug

Think about this. BI's IPF team is mostly internal. They rolled over their top reps and saved a lot of money in the process. Imagine you're the CEO of the buyer. Would you keep Intermune's highly paid sales team that hasn't sold Esbriet and hasn't even been trained yet. Or would you rather use your existing sales team that's making 50K less. It makes fiscal sense for the buying company to eliminate bloat. I can tell you that managers and directors will be screwed. Also look at past history of mergers and takeovers and how many sales teams just get eliminated. If you gamble on Intermune then best of luck.

The money they are paying RD down to sale people is unsustainable in almost any pharma/biotech company. There are only three small biotech I know that pay this much in salary and potential bonus. They used this to lure you all here to either a) have a good launch so they can get more money in a buyout b) show possible suitors they are willing to go it along and can use this as their poker hand as leverage to negotiate a higher sales price. This is business as usual people. If Intermune went right to the free market to put themselves up for sale without establishing a commercial Team they would have significantly less leverage when negotiating. This is mergers and acquisitions 101.

You are foolish to think this place will not be bought. Its only a matter of time and how much. Most likely will be before launch so acquiring company can control the launch.

Your post is dead on. Further proof is that these reports of Intermune accepting bids didn't surface until 3 weeks before the Sept start date. Intermune had all summer to consider a buyout but didn't start considering offers until after the sales team was in place. All part of this cat and mouse game. In the end, the CEOs and shareholders win but the reps get screwed.

You are all aware that it is public knowledge Intermune has hired a firm to assess and review all offers right? They have retained this firm some time ago and continue to review and asses offers. Google it if you don't believe me.

Anyone backing out? Or are you going to double dip like me?

Going to club spending this cash like its fire in a blaze'
To the extreme I rock these Pulm offices like a vandal
Light up Dr. Smith like a primary care chump with a candle

Dancin...TO IPF all day cleanin BIs drug with a broom
killing BIs reps brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly when I come in selling perfinidone like a melody
Sell it so good I should be wanted like a felony

Intermune and IPF aint gonna play
If IPF was problem yo I'll solve it
Check out the hook while the patient dissolves it
