Really? You didn't know he was part of the 'good ol' boys' network?
Or that he was Mr. 'I never say anything controversial'? Or that he would never strongly word anything, that he never took a stance on much of anything, that he tried to be the most politically correct creature HR could ever dream up, that he thought that if he just smoothly oozed about he would be safe and 'doing the right thing career wise'? He tried so hard to be everybody's friend and buddy.
Remember - he went to school in the Richard Foust college of career success. Problem is, the industry has become too competitive to support an army of smarmy diplomat types in middle management. We need movers and shakers. Doers. People with spine, opinion, vision and drive.
