Triple-vaxxed pharma exec quits over COVID vaccine mandate

Yes, very strange times we're in. This pandemic has temporarily allowed emergency use authorization for some companies to mandate our otherwise private health care choices as terms of employment. Many companies, not just Starbucks, have already changed their now defunct vaccination policies. It's now clear that vaccines do not stop the spread, therefore mandates are and have been useless.
Maybe things will go back to the way they were. But don't hold your breath that pharma will go the route of "many companies". It's even possible some will double down as they try to get people back in the office. Now that HR groups have the capability to collect and track the information, they could easily require flu shots every year too. An employer can require you to do all sorts of things in exchange for a job, just read your employment agreement. And they can add to it any time they wish.

You picked the wrong industry if this is the axe you choose to grind.

And if take a stance, where are you going to go in the industry. All pharmaceutical jobs will require the jab.

Not just our industry but any measurable corporation is following suit. If you can't figure out the allegory being played out here in regards to power and control you'll most likely never get it.

Abbvie! I joined them back in November. They are much larger than Takeda, yet they have no vaccine mandate.
There’s a sucker born every minute. Speaking of power and control, hope you carefully read and sought legal advice on their industry-famous non-compete before you signed the employment agreement. You would have been better off taking the jab, career-wise. Everyone in Boston has a story of someone who was sidelined for 1-2 years after leaving Abbvie because of their non-compete. Just wait until you decide to leave for another company. You’ll see, unless you live in a state like Massachusetts or California where there are good laws. Good luck!

There are plenty of other pharma's besides Abbvie who have no vaccine mandates for field sales. Most of the ones who do only require a yes/no honor system in their HR database, and do not require proof by vaccine card.

No I'd not have been better taking the jab. Let me assure you.

And let me assure you, the odds of Abbvie harassing and blocking you from taking your skills to another pharma company are way higher than the odds of being harmed by a vaccine. Especially if you are doing anything even remotely connected to immunology. Too late to do your own research, unfortunately. Looking forward to seeing your posts on the Abbvie site in a few years when you are even more miserable and stuck in place.

SO WRONG

Think critically!

I know several people that have left Abbvie and never had an issue with the NC. Quit being a douche with the fear porn.
