Time frame for cuts

Time frame for cuts announcement still remains Mar. Gives time to sort out and train those. Most likely same bus rules of last year, 2011 ratings will be taken into acct., and April IC payouts can be dolled out to prevent lawsuits. Completely new geography and pod carveouts including merging of territories, districts, regions, and ou.

One RUMOR was that dissolving the ou structure and going back to EH contol. Maybe, seems like a lot to bite off at once.

I think this may be logical . Same time frame but deeper cuts.
So what if you go thru your reviews with the pittance of increases we get won't really make much difference to severance packages
Any time you rush something there are bound to be mistakes. Novartis is not going to rush this.
What's another month or 2 anyway?.

My roommate is on the ZS assoc team assigned to the Novartis contract for last 3 months. They had pre Tek maps submitted to the Nov LOE Allign Team early Dec with 2 week updates and finals targeted for early Jan. Tek announcement was not in any of the 4 Scenarios they were working on. Since the Tek news, they submitted first pre maps to NLOET last Thurs and have the same deadline in place. They went back to work Mon and have changed from every 2 week meeting with Nov to twice a week. In order to let HR, benefits, targeting, and such get into before announcement in Mar, a hard deadline of mid Jan must happen. Cuts look very deep...around 50 % prim care sf. I personally wanted to know if i was being cut, they dont have names as specific headcount is handled by ZS Ass and biz rules and names are handled by the NLOET. Good luck to us all. We should know in Mar.

True or not makes sense...we will know when we find out

Probably Mar.

My brother is on the Zs assoc Sanofi contract. He says this would make sense.

so....if the time frame is March, what do you do with the cv field force until then, surely cant send them into the field to notify phys. of the Tek. situation until then, notifiation by reps for another 2 weeks after we return seems like enough time to get the word out. Would you train cv reps on EXP/Reclast now, seems to make more sense to make your cuts and then put training in place, at least thats what they did last year. Just thoughts.

warn act.

I don't see novartis keep us until march. If march is the date they would let us know in january. Then keep you on until march. That would fill the 60 day warn act requirement.

If they announce in march our off payroll date would not be until may. I cant see them letting us hang around that long. Novartis has a model in place for this, they went thru this last year. I have been thru a few of these. Layoffs are often very simple. I worked for a large company in a former life. I submitted two name to my boss who were to be cut. The call went like this.

"give me two names in your department that need to be cut" "base it on tenure and performence" I said, " well johns new, pete has kids and......Jane doesnt work very hard"

HR-" well I don't care, give me two name now."

Me" "K jane and john"

and it was done, that quick. 3 days later they were gone.

Uhhh, yea.... You are a manager? The sixty days for the Warn Act? The told us in OCTOBER that there would be layoffs. You are not a manager, you sir, are a douche.

The stock is going up more cuts are a coming. 1st thing on the to do list after the last glass of champagne is chugged in 2011 "Happy NewYear" the ball drops and the ax falls with !!!! Money and payola for the board, no jobs and unemployment for us.

Wall street loves Novartis in January!!!! cut cut and cut more = more payola. Happy NewYear

I love how they have all these illiterate people that work for this company.....

This person is a real idiot." OK manager tell me who to cut Yea right....oh and while i have you on the phone you are gone as well"

all i am saying is, if you think they are having high level meeting about who stays and who go's you are wrong. If you think Novartis needs 3 months to fire people you have never been a manager.

The warn act is official notice from novartis that you have lost your job, not a press release that layoffs are coming someday soon. That is why last year if you got fired on december 3 you did not come off payroll until feb. Then your package kicked in.

some of you are the same people that will come back to this board in 60 days and say "I cant believe they did it this way, my new territory is 2 hours away." Thats my point, there is no high level summit going on to make this fare. Its cut 1000 people today and we can fix it later..(and give me a break I am typing this from my Iphone)

I'd rather be layed off than have a territory 2 hours away!!

Yes the above poster has some valid points the issue is that they were going to have layoffs before the Tek imploded. Those were going to be announce in Feb/Mar time frame.

Explain why they just can't stay on that timeline? As another poster stated who seemed to know someone as ZS, they may be redrawing territories, districts etc and this doens't happen overnight.
The territories now were drawn up for CV products and with not many left, they need to make some changes for sure.

I was thinking Novartis would not redraw territories so that they could keep the reps who remain calling on their same doctors. Many reps have been around a while & have relationships that can never be replaced. Novartis has talked for a while about preserving the doctor rep relationship. I would be suprised if they changed territories very much.

They didn't give it any thought last year. There were many people I know that we're switched to different territories and many people who were selling CV products were then selling Reclast or EXP. different Dr's. Novartis At this point Novartis doesn't care about any of us, do they??

OMG!! Are you really that nieve??? (SP) Novartis DOESN'T care!! It's business, uncaring, unfeeling, mechanical, etc. They look at us as warm bodies, territory ID's, employee numbers. All that fuzzy stuff about caring for customer needs and relationships is bunk. Haven't you figured this out by now, or are you a new hire???

your iphone can't be blamed for you not knowing the difference between fare and fair and go's and goes!

what planet do you live on ? reps are a joke
some doctors at best tolerate a few long time reps
mainly out of pity.

the relationships are worthless unless they are speakers
hungry for payola & even those are waning as doctors
want nothing to do with the sunshine act

pharma reps are like door to door vacume cleaner salesman

car salesman are better respected

Harsh truth , accept it & move on

ummm, c'mon are you kidding me? the announcement has been made, right? they already know what's going down and when. first announcement and soon after the real cuts...no waiting around a few months....that's just stupid if you think they are going to make an announcement, let people worry (take their mind off the job) and then wait a few months to make the actual cuts. they already know who they don't need.
