not sure where your hostility is coming from. three friends of mine were 'reorganized' and they got paid for unused vacation time. i'm just suggesting to burn the sick time instead of vacation time in case it translates to more in the severance package. why so angry? just trying to help people.

unless you need time to look for a job, consider before burning vacation. at severance they will usually pay for unused vacation but not for unused sick time. in other words if you need time off, better get your sore throat ready to go.

Heard from a reliable senior director that senior Leaders are going to get “packages” that will pay them up to one year, while the rest of the folks get a few weeks and a kick out. Not thrilled to stick around to see whether I am the “chosen one” to work for Takeda. Plans for many folks I have spoken to is to start interviewing. Very sad! I wonder if Takeda or Shire get a tax discount from the state of Massachusetts... I plan to call Governor Baker and let him on on their plans for mass layoffs! Oh, and Executive team will get the best package.....

This is highly plausible and happened last time around with AbbVie. Only difference was last time, 30 of Flem's executives got a two year payout as a retention bonus as long as they stayed six months post merger. The rest of the company got a basic severance, not the "enhanced change of ownership" severance they were told they would get. Watch out for yourself if you are not a VP or higher.

That’s bad advice, so when you go get, yet, another job and they say hey you worked for Shire till 7/14/18, but you you started your new job 6/30/18. Yes... the background check will yield exact dates. Good luck explaining that!!! Bottom line you are screwed! That doesn’t look good!

I interviewed with Shire recently. I think I may have been lucky I did not get the job. I plan to watch and see what happens to the "new person" that beat me out of the job.

I’m in rare disease/plasma. We haven’t come out with new indications in 5 years, there is virtually no advertising budget and we don’t sample. Please explain our success and market share.
