Poster #19 is spot on. If you have never sold in a commission only position, you have no idea what a "true" sales position is about. I have done both, business to business sales for 10 years, then luckily made it in to pharma. It was like heaven to come into pharma after a commission - only, no car allowance, no gas allowance job, where I made over 100K a year, and knew every day that it was ME who moved the needle and made every cent I earned.
I'm not complaining - this has been the greatest gig in the world - but I am GRATEFUL for it because I KNOW how hard a "true" sales job is. Those who started their career in pharma are lucky as heck, but they don't have a clue how easy it is compared to other sales positions.
