The 800 million

Is Valeant on track to cut 800 million from its budget? Seems like this number was floated to get the merger approved but then after the merger there was a severe pull back on this plan.

Valeant investors are not too bright so it probably does not matter. If there is another company purchase by Valeant the number floated for cost savings may not be believed.

The speculation is that Valeant did not layoff as many as planned because they are working on a deal to sell off Vision Care. Look for this to happen first quarter of 2014.

Valeant would sell Vision Care if it could. But it cannot. So instead they trimmed it as much as possible in the first round of layoffs. Who knows about the second round?

Valeant will ride Vision Care as long as possible and put as little money into it as possible. A few people left running around crazy trying to make up for all of the lost people in Vision Care who lost their jobs. Pharma got a pass in the last round of layoffs. Very few let go. If you are not in Pharma at Bausch you career is on its death bed. They are just waiting for you to finish up what is left and then you are gone.

vision care is the main money maker at B&L. pharma branded counts for very little. generics is the money maker within pharma. OTC too since that was rolled under Rx.

they're not getting rid of the money maker.

Vision Care's 'money maker' is solutions and all are being folded into OTC Pharma in NJ. Looks like Lens stands alone in Rochester/Waterford. Wonder who the buyer will be...

Who is buying up IOLs, disposable packs, cutters, handpieces, machined instruments, cataract, and posterior / retinal equipment?

No one will buy just the contact lens business. Vision Care-Lens + solutions is a package deal. Someone might buy just the solutions but owning just the lens business is a losing proposition as it is fourth in market share.

CooperVision, J&J, Proctor and Gamble, AMO, are possibilities but WP shopped this business with them beforeand they were turned down.

Anyone find it strange that some people got an email about our health insurance changing in 2014 and others didn't? Is this a sign that round 2 of layoffs is going to happen before we enroll in our benefits??

Interesting - I wonder how the list people on the health insurance e-mail and the list of people on the "This is a test" e-mail compares. Are they related?

Folks I am on the Derm side of this complete shit show, understand 1 thing, well maybe a couple of things. There will be cuts and soon - all sides of this so called organization will be affected. The other thing - and trust me on this - don't trust any of these guys. They are all complete bullshit artists posing as whatever the fuck they are- simply put they are lacking soul and a moral compass. Collect and move on - it is simple they don't care about us - so you know what - milk them like Focker would do.
