Territory Sales Executive with CVS/Caremark

I've hired plenty of pharma reps as both a SP and med device sales leader. If you have strong relationships as a pharma rep then you can be very successful in SP pretty quickly, where it's about relationships and your pharmacy's service. I don't mind pharma reps in med device roles either, because they bring a stronger perspective on the sales process than most med device reps, who are just glorified box openers in the OR. Pharma reps from top drug companies have been put through the ringer on sales training, even if they don't necessarily need those skills every day in doctors' offices. If you're a drug rep, don't be discouraged from either the med device or the SP space. Just be prepared to bring your relationships to your particular SP therapy, and be prepared to work very hard in a very competitive space (but what ISN'T competitive these days?). Regardless of your background, tenacity is important in the SP space. It's getting more crowded every day, but there is still a very big window of opportunity to make a lot of money for those willing to put in the time.

No I did not . I'm going with a smaller sp. I think there are more opportunities for movement in the company. thanks.

Hate to tell you but smaller SP's get absolutely crushed in this market. You won't be able to fill 60-70% of your intakes, offices will get frustrated because you promised something that is out of your control and ultimately will just stick with the big boys. Seen it time and time again.

Good luck but you made a bad career decision.

That is why we typically won't hire pharma reps- when we do they are the best of the best or they won't last long here. If you have to ask how you build consistent relationships than you probably aren't going to be a good fit.

With base and bonus most reps are making 180k+. It is a very hard job in a commodity environment- if you don't perform you won't last.

Yeah 180k....
No freaking way. Bases are under 100k... and at plan comp is 28k. Stay away from the East Coast MS division. Manager is horrendous to say the least. She sucks and has the worst turnover from any other division in the company.
