Terrible manager

If you worked for her and have another job, why are you hanging out here? You must miss your old job. If you are here and on her team, sounds like you may be the issue. You must feel pretty tough when you can post anonymously!

Don’t limit your thoughts to her team. SP is a running joke within the management team, home office, and among most any other folks who have had the unfortunate opportunity to come into contact with her. Other managers advise against considering working for her, corporate partners cringe at her requests for collaboration, doctors say they never want her in their offices again. She is a black eye to BI.

No life.

Very true. She has no life outside of work and imposes that mindset on her team daily. That aside, the fact her peers advise people not to work for her is the biggest red flag there could be. Don’t conflate this with her team’s ability. The hatred for SP exists well beyond the bounds of her team. It exists everywhere in the region/company. She’s a known quantity. And you’re right, she has no life, and is contrary to every employe value BI subscribes to.

The real question is: if you work for her, why do you continue to do so? You dread her phone calls, you hate her endless team meetings, you text your teammates with eye rolls throughout, you hate that she makes you do stupid spreadsheets for PlanIT, you certainly dread her field rides, your customers hate her, you joke about driving extended distances to keep her at arms length, you laugh at her when she is on stage, you congratulate her in a patronizing way. I could go on and on.

Who is more foolish? The fool or the fool who follows her?

Instead of a thread about terrible managers, how about we OUT some terrible reps? Managers get bashed routinely here. Typically it’s the same 3-4 managers too. Even a few from the old days (JC and HK?). But we never hear about the crappy reps. There are usually at least 2 crappy ones in each district. Go ahead, let’s call them out. Shouldn’t just be the reps that get to call out their manager.

Well, all yours left, right?

I agree, my manager isn’t perfect but we’ve got a rep who is just awful. And you’re right, seems like most districts have someone who sets the bar very low. I’d say that most lower tier managers are way better than the lower tier reps, all things considered. Unless the manager is a monster there are usually ways to work around their incompetence.

Awe you are sad you were called out as a shitty manager.

You mean the ones who are in the leadership development program but have rarely seen a customer?
