Terminated Reps

I was terminated Dec 31 after 12+ years. I received no "Farewell, it was great working with you, etc call or message from anyone in the company, including my DM, who didn't have the grace, professionalism or kindness to treat me as a human being. It has been very difficult since I was there when the company was not at all like it is now. It was successfully run by people who understood the peculiar nature of contract pharma sales. OTCs were a big part of the business and the shared sales division was treated well with contests, Christmas gifts and parties (my DM could not even spend his own ,or the company's money to send a cheap Christmas card and, of course, that small gesture would probably never even have occurred to MS. Lopez) and other little perks and incentives. The paucity and low quality of the products/accounts we have been shilling for has been acutely evident to all of us. Double and triple data entry and PDIU assignments for Abbot with no samples or even vouchers, no BD funds (the worst was at Christmastime when all the other reps were coming in with lunches and cookie trays and here's the PDI "rep" with...nothing.),the reduction in calls and the infamous short-term Edarbi contract. There is much more I could say, but why bother? I am fired.

To the above post, keep posted to this site because you may want to be involved in something that will be happening soon. I can't give out information (my identity) yet but would love to talk to you. Just keep posted.......

No, I wasn't given a reason for my termination, just lack of contracts. I had been with PDI for 16 years and have excellent evaluations and ride-alongs. Since this all went down, I have been contacted by an attorney that wants to take this further since it involves a lot of reps that have been with the company 8+ years and terminated. He told me that he has 15+ reps so far and wanted to know if I was interested. That is why I would like to speak with the above post and any other reps that are in the same position.

I was let go too but it was my understanding that it was due too not having a contract to put us on and not anticipating one in the near future. Is there more to this that I should know about? I know that there was a small percentage that stayed on Edarbi. How was that determined? I wonder if they will also be terminated when that ends soon. I did think it was strange how fast it happened and how little was discussed with us. The conference call was extremely brief and it is strange that we were told that we can apply for future jobs. If it was based on a lack of business, it seems that we would be told to expect a call back when the time comes. Any thoughts or knowledge on this?

I was told terminated also but one of my counterparts just spent the day with my previous DM today and she stated that there will be new business in February but the terminated reps will not be recalled. No reason given. To the above post, how long have you been with PDI, was it 8+ years? It seems that that was where the terminated reps fell. Yes, there is a lot more to this story !!!!!

Now that is strange! New business will be coming but terminated reps will not be recalled? Why would they do interviews for new reps if they have experienced reps just waiting to work. I know I was in good standing when let go. Was this an excuse to let go of reps in order to start fresh?

No, not 8+ years for me.

Here is the question: What percentage of reps were kept on the Edarbi contract and how was that determined? Was this a manager, headquarter or client decision? If the client decided which territories remained, this has nothing to do with individuals. Its just like with most shared sales contracts in that not every territory is needed. It's based on sales projections for a certain geographic area. I get that but what I don't get is why we would not be recalled. If this is true then it does indicate that the people let go were specifically chosen. After investing over 5 years with this company with nothing but positive reviews and field contacts, this does not sit well.

If you are a manager, please explain what happened so we can stop speculating. Why were certain reps terminated and how was this determined? Also, is it true that new business is coming soon and we will not be recalled?

I am not a manager but not a troll either. I was one of the reps with 16 years and terminated. There is a pattern here and we are going to get to the bottom of it. I just wish there was a way to get in contact with others out there is the same situation before we meet with an attorney. We need as many stories as possible. If anyone has any ideas without giving our names, please advise !!!!!

Hi, I am the rep w/the 12+ years. (Years are approximate for anonymity.) I would very much like to get in touch with the initiator of the discussion to compare notes and (sorry) also to kvetch. However, can't think of a safe way to make contact without the wrong people getting involved. Can you?
