You can't make a generalization about the age of people let go. In our district, and areas around us it was just the opposite. The younger less tenured reps were cut and the higher paid, more experienced reps were kept. Both times! There are still older reps with the company. I'm not saying I know why they chose the reps they did but I do know that there are still older and higher paid reps with Takeda. Some may have been cut but many weren't.
My point is that older, tenured reps, were replaced in their territories by younger, cheaper reps.Downsizing a territory is one thing, but downsizing an older, tenured rep to be replaced with the above is another, and believe me it happend both times.Takeda mentality is that of big pharma, in the respect that relationships, rapport, that tenured older reps bring,is not important anymore.Hey,this happened to me too,and I found another pharma job within 2 months with a company that appreciates what I bring to the table, and I am successfully selling against Takeda. I'm better off,not complaining, but let's not try to sweep under the rug what is being done during these "downsizings".
