Summit site - folks not moving to KW or RY

NJ is not done. KW is the site du jour. if anyplace is done its WP. Once R&D is done there they will move manufacturing to NC and eventually shut that place down. It's a huge site = huge expense.

???? China would be better than NC. They are the worse. R&D is finished. It all over but the crying. You didn't think RP would keep them? They have done nothing for 7 years running.

Merck has tapped Jones Lang LaSalle to manage the sale of its 1.5 million-square-foot research and development campus in Summit, the real estate brokerage said Thursday.

Merck hired Cushman & Wakefield to broker the sale, and the real estate firm figures the campus will either become another company's HQ or be "positioned for innovative reuse."

Speculate all you want but these are the two campuses officially on the market.

Summit will be sold. I work in engineering and kenilworth needs extensive work. This was not known until recently. WHS will most likely stay as merck's world headquarters. K1 is structurally deficient with cracks in the foundation. I believe Merck is looking to exit the Lebanon building that currently houses sales.

So if it needs extensive work, will WH still move to KW?

Everyone know our R&D and production areas stink. We are now doing the right things. We will purchase smaller companies. Production will not be in house. How many years has R&D done nothing. They felt because they have a piece of paper (degree) they were entitled to be here. Very similar to a entitled NY Jet QB they just released. He is looking for work also.

To anyone saying that putting 75 million into a building means anything, you are kidding yourselves.

In the big picture, infrastructure costs are a one time cost and are not the main concern. They wont mind putting hundreds of millions into KW or spending 100 million on a building they want to sell.

All moves will be between West Point and Rahway. WHS will be sold, Summit will be sold, and a small skeleton crew will remain in Kenilworth. Everybody else start packing your bags to either go to West Point or Rahway

Not true. I hear Celgene is buying the property. They will consolidate their several Jersey locations on the campus.

Then, in 3 years time, Merck buys Celgene.

The spin continues~~

Celgene deal fell through months ago. They want office space, not labs. They aren't interested in S6/S7 (which are the buildings that are supposed to be the big sellers for this campus). Celgene decided to just build on their current Summit property.

Wall Street thinks Celgene will be bought soon. Them backing out if a site purchase tells me they do, too. Could the buyer be Merck? Never say never but I think Mother is concentrating more on major sales than major buys at the moment.

3/26 story ran about Sanofi - another - pharma jumping in to bid on Consumer.

Merck needs to sell or abandon cokesbury, Lebanon, branchburg and consolidate in summit, KW, and Rahway. No one is going to buy summit unless it's dirt cheap.

merck will sell WH and move part to WP, then merck will send part of the Summit site to RY and KW. They will then acquire Celgene and stay at the Celgene site before realizing they need a bigger site, at which point they will move back to Merck summit site, then they will sell everything in the US and move to Shanghai.....
