Stapler

My favorite is Astroids - But i still think the robot is a useless POS that keeps people under anesthesia longer than necessary. If youre a hack that has no laparoscopic skills it could be useful though.

Doesn't matter what you or I think. Docs are enamored with the bot and will use it in any way they can. Stapler and vessel sealer will hurt. A LOT.

Post op leaks = loss of confidence in stapler and bot. Covidien and Leon Hursch win again!

Been plenty of confidence with the bot without a stapler and the addition of one will only increase use and adoption. ISRG does not launch stuff that doesn't work unlike, say, Covidien's powered stapler. Leon and the North Haven crew ain't won sh*t since they ran out of Soviet ideas to "borrow." They're winning so huge and so often that Boulder has to come in and hold their hand and kick their ass.

dont get to mouthy or Covidien will just buy you and move on!

Stapler? When is Intuitive going to find a way to help GYN's stop slicing ureters during a 2 hour procedure that formally took 30min?

The robot only helps in a very small number of situations. It doesn't make marginal surgeons better.

And guess what? The newest robotic frontier...Lap Choles! A simple, low-morbidity procedure that is typically done before they even get the camera docked on a robot! Brilliant!!!!

The robot is like the emperor's new clothes...every one but the emperor knows he's naked.

...and you can enjoy being right while ISRG keeps eroding your business. DaVinci surgery isn't cost-effective and, in most cases, is no more efficiacious than traditional MIS methods. The thing is, NO ONE CARES. The emperor might not know he's naked but the emperor in this case is comprised of elite clinicians who use it, large hospital systems who have purchased it and a patient base that demands the technology.

Elite clinicians? All I see are hack GYNs who can't do anything but deliver babies and think that a robot is going to make their cases shorter.

The lap chole approach is a good one. That ranks up there with thyroidectomies with a robot.

Assuming a normal distrubution of competency, the "hacks" likely comprise the majority of the area under the curve. The stapler and vessel sealer are coming. The pain train is coming.

LMAO to the person that wrote hyst takes 30 mins...How many hyst in US are still done open..it will take you nearly 30 mins to open then close the incision.

Very few surgeons can do a hyst in 30 mins... If they do, they are probably sloppy. too many variables affecting hysterectomies...Large uterus, previous surgery, BMI, endometriosis to name a few

Keep chirping. You know absolutely nothing about the ISRG stapler---and for good reason. You haven't seen the design, you know nothing about the head to head testing. All I can tell you is this: Don't underestimate the efficacy and impact this product is going to have on your business. Or follow the same path as everyone else who discounted ISRG and is now paying the price. At $500 per share, they can pay the best and brightest engineers. And they do. Stay tuned.

Touche - but know this, as a life long staple rep i will crush you when that pulmonary artery starts to bleed. I know I know you think Im a simpleton but there is a reason there has been 2 players in this mkt. Now launch that expensive POS and lets get it on!

just ask covidien how their powered stapler is doing...they'll shut up pretty quickly!!!!!

From what I hear in the field (in Europe) - Intuitive might develop a powered vessel sealing device together with Covidien for the DaVinci. Would make sense - Covidien has the biggest experience in electrosurgical vessel sealing. Right current type together with right hardware characteristics is not an easy one as many companies have proven so far (i.e. ERBE).

Bad for Covidien reps - good for Intuitive reps and Covidien management

Stapler will not close over thick tissue - Let Autosuture and Ethicon have this nightmare
