spill the beans

Wouldn't it be nice if all the posts on CP were not allowed to be Anonymous, so the whiners and cowards couldn't hide behind their ludacris statements!??

Don't see where Ludacris had anything to say. I think it's ludicrous that you come off so high and mighty while hiding behind the same anonymity. Perhaps it makes it easier to cover your stupidity!

Wow. You must be an old rep or one of orignal distributors to know the Concept brand. To bad linvawreck doesn't have great managers, products or VP's around anymore.

I was with another orthopedic company and we decided to take a run at buying Concept back in the early 90's. We valued the Concept name in the millions becausee they were known as an innovator and quality company. Zimmer (part of Bristol Myers then) overpaid for the company, and then renamed it with the Linvatec moniker!

Back then Concept wasn't really so innovative, but they were quick to market and their sales group knew the products and procedures better than their competition. We would develop innovative devices and have some doc's try them out, and before we could get them into production, Concept would already have copies in the market. Our customers would then comment about how we copied Concept. That is the value of pushing thru the new products were Concept used to excel! Those knowledgable rep's were important too!

Current employees, someone come out and start the conversation. What is it that has this company so jacked up and ultimately dying? No new product, lousy distributing, terrible leadership?

Seems that we have wandered away from this original question. My 2 cents worth of opinion is that leadership is:

1 Leadership is missing from the top. What are our goals? This should flow from top down, but I haven't heard of our goals other than the old "leader by 2013" promise

2 Without leadership, we don't get new products that we need. Internally, priorities get changed so often that nothing is a priority for long.

3 Internally, the company has everyone blaming the other departments for their problems. Groups don't work well with one another.

And let's not forget, salespeople who can't sell product in a competitive market!

I think I have to get legal representation to continue this post. I will say that current Largo/PMO management continues to manufacture product at an all time high efficiency rate per man hours. The honest truth is that current management is taking advantage of the fact that Conmed has not qualified/confirmed actual cost of product per process which in many cases will result in a 50% reduction of component costs across the board.

I used to work for Linvatec and you are correct in saying that they don't really know what their costs are for many of their products. Some cost estimates are low, others are high. Several years ago we found that the company lost money on every unit of one product that was sold because of errors in costing. They have not improved much according to some friends who still work there.

i remember that one where we lost money of every unit! i was in the board room when the Marketing Director said that "we can correct that with higher volume". I am lucky to be an alumni now!

Yeah but Linvatec is solving the question of not knowing the cost of manufacturing. As of January 1st, they raised the prices everything, anywhere from 20% to 100%. That should work. No new products for 2013, but just double the cost of old technology to the customers.

Obama Care or " Afordable Health Care Act". raise prises or lay offs, which do you prefer?

Linvatec has always been a me too company. The peter principle runs rampant in the company and as people have stated before there is no leadership, none. The workers are told there is no money for raises but the executives talk about how they just bought a new house on the beach or ordered a new car. For a long time Linvatec has made money and they don't care about waste or how they treat their employees because management still makes their bonuses. It's very surprising all of the poor choices haven't caught up with the idiots at the top.

The imperial upper and middle management is dancing because their short sighted $$$ mind on a sell. If they think they will be retained, ha,ha. A real company will not put up with the day to day of incompetence!

It can't imagine it could be long now. It would be interesting to see what a real company would do if they bought us. I can't even imagine what they would think of the incompetence of this management. Can you think of anyone they should keep? I sure can't.
