Somebody Please Tell Me What the Long-Term reps do! ?!

What products exactly are in the LTC KAM's portfolio anyway?? How many reps on average are they working with?
And why are we hiring new people from outside instead of promoting someone deserving internally?

Because this corporation's talent pool is very shallow. I think it's good to bring in fresh ideas. I know a lot of stale thinking has slowed us down over the last few years.

Long Term Care does alot more than you think. Do you know how many Nursing Homes/Assisted Living/and Hospitals there are in the USA? How many patients that equals?? Do some research before you start spewing at the mouth! They are responsible for the pull through for all of NVS products in these facilities. That's where they spend most of their time. It irritates me that the sales force is still oblivious to what they do. Don't blame it on the reps>blame it on the company. They have never given this team credit and probably never will. FYI- this division was started in 1996. If they hire from outside the company, it is because they are looking for experience in this forum. It saddens me that there is still such a level of resentment of this division...

To the poster on #11. No, I am not currently one of the LTC people, but I used to be. There is more work than you can imagine especially when dealing with getting formulary approval and all of the contract work that is involved. They deal with the decision makers on who is going to put Novartis product on their formulary. Not easy to do and alot of tough competition with the other companies. As I said earlier, talk with your rep or spend a day doing a ride along and see what they do. You'll see, its not a easy as you think..

Fine, but our products have been available on the LTC pharmacies' formularies for a long time. What has the KAM done since then? Come on, quit making excuses. Why don't the KAM's spend a day and see what WE do ?

Remember the SMART formula :
S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Attainable
R = Realistic
T = Timely

Apply this and tell me what any KAM has done. "I work on pull-through after formulary approval (that took place 5 years ago)." No, that doesn't cut it.

Doubt it is CA in NY because he doesnt go on this web site and he didnt bother me or anyone from what I know. I would look at Hospital what do they do? I never heard from my hospital people ever!!! And I worked in NYC.

Awww I like the NY person he pretty much leaves us alone introduced me to a few people and meets up for lunches and stuff, not a bad person to work with at all not a lot of field rides either :) and whoever made fun of him nice post during work hours.

Shocker Primary care reps ripping on anyone in a higher position than them this is always the case with lazy reps projecting on others, next you will tell me fat people eat too much or the government is corrupt or Novartis has bad products.
