So what now/Merck

I am a manger on this contract. I cannot disclose too much info or I will give myself away. I strongly advise you to start applying elsewhere. Very negative news forthcoming. Myself and every DM I know are trying to help our reps get out before the announcement.

Managers don't know anything up until the last week. When they find out they will be informed how o tell the reps. The buzz will be about an extention because this keeps everybody upbeat and working. If they leaked the end too soon then all would be stepping up the job hunt and not working. In contract you should always be looking because you know that one way or another the end is near. Reps need to make their calls for the contract to be completed and everyone payed. I would not believe the hype. In most cases the contract will end, reguardless of the results and any extra effort you may think might make a difference. Prepair for the worst and be pleasantly surprised if anything better happens. There are no sure things or guarentees in this job anymore. There is almost no difference in being a direct employee vs. contract. It might be slight but not what it once was. Good Luck to us all.

The difference between contract and direct is.... Stronger marriage commitment with contract meaning alimony=severance, longevity because of stronger commitment on the direct side. None of this do you get on contract. By no means are they the same.

I think that might have been true in the past.. Now most employers know contractt reps are just as valuable as direct workers...oh and dont let the naysayers get you down..
