slowness of medimmune HR

Coming from the inside the process is a joke. The right thing provides such poor candidates and frequently turns down (through an automated system) those who would be perfect, at least one or two had the gumption to personally find the hiring manager and ask why they had been rejected.

In any case I'd not recommend coming here right now. Management does not embrace change and are defending poor practices and sweeping them into the closet without fixing issues as they don't want to look bad to their parent AZ

Can anyone in the company give some info on the pace of R&D hiring? Does medi plan to add to their staff this year? Does it typically take them several months from posting a position to interviewing, offering, and finally hiring?

Does anyone there know of any way to move things along? I've tried calling and calling, and I don't want to burn bridges. I'm starting to get other offers and want to be able to make an educated decision and not think, "what if...." down the road.

Email Allen Chilson (ChilsonA@MedImmune.com) and tell him that the entire MedImmune HR process is messed up. I have done this, but they asked for the specifics of the position I applied for and what happened. I didn't want to do this, because I figured it would jeopardize any current or future employment actions for me there. I haven't heard back from them. Hopefully there will be a critical mass of people that email them and say that there are issues with the hiring process.

The entire company has tons of positions that have been on the web for months and months. I think the whole thing is a wreck, and the people, processes, or both that they have to hire people is messed up. It really turns people off when the first action that you might have with a company is so dysfunctional. If they are this bad when trying to hire people, what are they like once a person is inside the company?

Why not just email the head of R&D, Dr. Bahija Jallal. She can be found on the Medi webpage with the other directors. If you really think there is a problem with the system, contact her directly. If not, quit your complaining, get off the internet, and get back to doing something productive to make yourself valuable.

So have they filled the Chicago director position yet? If not what the hell is taking so long?

Who the hell knows? There have to be tons of people applying who are either in the area or willing to move becuase of the crappy economics where they are currently. Medimmune is chronically slow to hire, and a quick scan through the website for open positions shows a bunch that are several months old, some even going back to last year. Its well known that they miss a lot of quality people by diddling around for so long.

True, so true. They are too slow and miss quality people.

see my open letter thread!!!!!!!!

i spend every morning till about noon checking e-mail applying for jobs taking calls from headhunters about contract jobs, I get submitted a lot and have on average 1 phone screen a week, on average, sometimes 3 in a week then nothing.

LIMS Lead Position at Medimmune, if you knowthat hiring manager give him a jersey salute for me or just piss on him. When I asked Medimmune after they asked what I was making at Par and Schering-Plough I asked it fit within there salary range. Shew responded that "we have a lot of other people who are interested in the position", the job was in Gaithersburg Md, a suburb of Washington DC $$$$, no reclo. I did the phone screen then bailed out with notice of the in-person since I had no idea what the salary range was, "they had lots of other candidates", no relo, so I did not want to drive to Md, pay for a hotel room and go on a cattle call. That was back in June. The position is still open. I had an HR guy from Medimmune call me about three weeks back (August) doing a follow up on the HR person I spoke to back in June. I related my experience, he tells be that my salary at Schering plough was right "in the sweet spot" of the range, they offer a "generous relo package' and sign-on bonus. Very similar to promoting someone before you fire them so that they are losing a better job. So he was going to try to "resurrect" my candidacy" and good call me back within the week. He even mentioned the possibility ofr a package deal where the G/F could get hired there. Never heard back not even an e-mail as I asked with his contact info. After not hearing back for a few weeks I contacted Medimmune "customer care" under HR. They then call me back to tell me that the "hiring manager" has no interest in resurecting my candidicy. So why the F bother to call me again about the position???? If you know who has any contacts at that place maybe he could drop a few rocks on HR's head. What bunch of a-hole jerk-offs. I'm pissed offd enough to search out the board of directors and send snal mail to their home witha what the F question. Does the company think they live in a vaccum that this type of info about their operation does not see the light of day?
