Sickness spreads through organization

I agree with you 1000%! The medical situation with 100s getting severely sick on the final day of the meeting was completely mishandled by Judy Stewart. If she really believes in “ Doing the Right Thing” for all of us in the VBU, she should have cancelled all the sessions that day and handled the situation at hand, and figured out how to best help those of us who were so severely ill. She really doesn’t care about the health and well being of her people. Her main concern is making money and padding her own pay check. GSK has really shown their true colors! Complete disrespect for their own employees!
WOW

This post makes some sense.
"For a healthcare company claiming to really care about people this was sloppy. Did they show us a good time? Yes, but at what costs? We are all viewed as expendable. Maybe the responsible thing would have been social distancing, every event outdoors? Proof c-19 negative necessary before you get on plane to attend?"

I agree, I was sick as a dog throwing up for 3 days. I am just now able to eat normally. Some kind of explanation on what the hell made us sick and what actions, if any were taken would be appreciated. I didn’t see my kids for nearly a week, and made arrangements so that I wouldn’t expose them to whatever it was. I also skipped seing my mom on Mother’s Day out of precaution and worry that she would get sick.

Too bad! Health care would be much improved if all you reps just died! Keep trying!

Probably a good thing you fat pig.

It's a bug, these things happen. Happy now?

Everyone was overjoyed and nobody missed you.

Stomach ailments are the worst. Sorry you missed some really important events. I think we all know in more normal times these illnesses may be caught during day to day activities. What made this problematic is that they know we still have C19 circulating, made no mention of taking precautions. Made no effort to have sanitizer at food stations (was at entrances to room) where everyone shared serving spoons. Had us sitting shoulder to shoulder. No social distancing, no masks readily available for those who desired them. Shared water stations was crazy…ever hear of cross contamination? No effort period. We are a healthcare company and should have made options available to mitigate and encouraged behaviors that would protect all who attended. Should have done better. Will say pleased Kim S. Acknowledged this finally a week later this showed better leadership than ignoring it. A little goes a long way. Glad you feel better.

You sound like a fragile child for whom all adults must tirelessly work to keep you safe at all times. Do you wear a football helmet when you drive?

I have to say that email from Kim “acknowledging” the illnesses was not even close to adequate. Saying she “wants “(and really needs)” to acknowledge it, came across as an insincere afterthought that she only did because she was felt forced. She has not shown one iota of skill that a decent leader would have shown and has proven sales, at any cost, is all that matters. She should have sent info on how many people were sick and what it was, but since no one has reached out to me to ask if I got sick, I can only conclude they don’t know who became I’ll, nor do they want to know. It says a lot about the unfortunate turn the VBU is taking, which is too bad because they could be so much better.

KS is the most unprofessional Leader the VBU has had. From the way she dresses to the way she communicates to the VBU-zero level of professionalism! I completely agree that the email she recently sent out to the VBU was so unprofessional! Saying she “wants” to acknowledge, and then in parentheses, saying she “ needs” to acknowledge that many people in the VBU got sick at the NSM in Orlando. Guess that was an afterthought; so unprofessional! She doesn’t know how to be articulate when she communicates to the VBU. Yes, I agree that every individual who got sick at the NSM meeting should be contacted by someone at GSK and made aware of what actually made them so sick. The way this has been handled by GSK and the VBU leadership is just SO WRONG!

Leadership across the organization is living on borrowed time. COVID exposed many facets of our society. Our educators in academia and how little they actually do to teach our children. "Asynchronous" learning. Basically means our kids read material and take exams that are graded by an automated system. Educators merely show up on video once per week for 30 mins. Teachers from high school to college have been completely exposed. Just as our leadership team has. There were no "ride-alongs" during the last two years. No "live" meetings. Look at what has happened. GSK had one of its best years on record. Everyone has seen it. So our "leadership team" needs to justify its existence with field rides and live meetings. They don't recognize that within the next 24 months we will be bought or broken up. They fail to realize that the way we do our jobs has forever changed. They cling to what they know. Tight handed micro-management. It's a losing proposition in the world we work in today. Sit back and watch the S-show over the next two years. Unfortunately they will push reps and try and pass blame. Again, watch the S-show as reps push back...and win! Reps will leave for better opportunities, contact HR or seek litigation against any form of mistreatment. Times have changed and the woke culture that our leaders embraced will be hilarious to watch. So sit back and watch the show.

Everyone in management thinks she is so awesome. Why do you think she dresses unprofessionally? She's moved up so much and knows they think her sheit does not stink.

We work for a big company. There are many factors that influence how gsk reacts to outside influences, internal and external. Realize we work for a company that is in the business of manufacturing drugs that benefit the bottom line for the bloodsucking industry that we work for. Charge thousands for a product that might save a life by 1 in 700. Lets just get in the lotto business. Big Pharma is same is big tobacco.

come on pharma to a tobacco company. You pick the company that brought those smokers multiple highly effective inhalers to help smokers as the one to use this analogy on?? The company culture sucks. The largest vaccine manufacturer totally
Missed the boat with a covid vaccine. Plenty of criticism to go around but that analogy sucks. The problem is leadership. All the wrong ceo choices after JP. All the wrong sales leadership and initiatives with the CIA and after. The mentality of needing to manage out someone in every geography created this strife and lack of trust. That is why so many volunteer when layoffs come around every two years or so. The way the handled the sales team during covid was disappointing to customers. How many vendors is GSK currently allowing into their buildings?
