Sales Rep Paradise? What a joke! Run, Run, Run!

To anyone looking at a job baxter advanced surgery - look elsewhere! Majority of the reps are in commission payback for Q1. Let me explain that, over most of the reps didn’t hit their target quotas and owe Baxter money instead of getting paid (bc we are on a partial draw Q1). Not for a lack of trying because they redesigned out comp plan and it’s a train wreck. There hasn’t been a COL adjustment in years to account for inflation. Most companies have already adjusted compensation due to the record levels of inflation we have seen. Advanced surgery has no pipeline… Do not come here, it will be a complete waste of your time and you will make very little/if any commission. Please do your dd and reach out to reps on LinkedIn to verify this. Leadership is a clown show. Just take a look at our stock price it has gone from in the $90’s to the $30’s. DO NOT join the sinking ship, you will be 100% sorry if you do.

This is 100% on Vince and his band of misfits, Tyler, Claire and Erin. But what will Vince do? First, he'll blame everyone but himself (the sales force didn't commit, the RM's over-forecasted, blah, blah, blah) and then he'll do absolutely nothing. He'll claim Steve won't let him change the comp plan but then Steve will say, "it's up to Vince".
What's funny/ironic is that when Vince got here he complained about our comp plan and how it put people in payback. Now he's made a bad situation worse.
We're stuck this year and until our leadership gets paid the same way we do, this will continue.
 








I left 2 months ago and it was the best decision I ever made. Middle management is delusional, product qualities and not enough support. Complete recipe for disaster.
 




Mgt is completely delusional, they are completely disconnected with the competitive landscape in the field. They don’t understand how VAC control every product that comes into the hospital and how surgeons no longer have a choice in what products they use. They are completely delusional on the effectiveness and mandated compliance of Ethicon ability to enforce their contracts. We are losing contract after contract and getting pulled off the shelf of hospitals daily. They aren’t seeing the big picture and adjusting our strategy appropriately. The only strategy they have is to have surgeons demand our products based on clinical value but they fail to realize surgeons can’t do that anymore hospitals don’t care about what they want. It’s a joke… Management is making business decisions based on the environment they sold (if they ever sold) in 10 years ago which is now completely non-existent.

Vince, Iftekhar, Derek and Tyler have no plans and no strategy. They’re panicked and it’s showing. Heard that Vince and Steve had to answer for his big miss to Heather after the state of the company call. Would have loved to have been on that call.
 




All of these comments are completely true. However, you are wasting precious time and energy hoping other people will change. They’re not going to. Take control and leave the company.

Steve Wallace - this is on you. It was your poor decision making that led to hiring Vince as our VP of Sales and the non-existent Iffty as our VP of Marketing. People are leaving and have ZERO faith in our leadership. Vince drove out the one ASD that knew our business and only listens to those who "kiss the ring". Vince has sunk even lower with his complete lack of leadership with this Perclot fuck up. He said he didn't want to know the truth of what's going on so he he won't have to lie to his team. Now that's leadership! Bury your head in the sand so you can claim you didn't know. What kind of fucked up leadership is this?
And you can find Waldo faster than you can find Iftekhar. That prick is no where to be found. His team hates him and he wants to take your place, Steve. Wouldn't that be the ultimate coup? Help tank the company so you can be on top to drive it down even lower. Sounds like he's taking lessons from Joe.

We're now at the end of June and not a peep from Steve or Vince. Sales are in the tank but the only people being held accountable are the reps. We are making less this year than last and despite Vince's claims about paying out more money in this years comp, very few are making it. Reps well over plan making less this year than last because Vince listened more to outside consultants than to his own people about the direction of our products. We're now overly focused on a 25 year old Floseal and 40 year old Tisseel. Great products but not high growth. Add to it that Marketing ruined Floseal and yet we're the ones paying the price for it.
Morale sucks and we're more focused on profit margins than winning business and lining the pockets of those who get paid on those margins. Those of us who are selling the products are getting beaten down financially and mentally as our leadership sits silent. It's embarrassing how poorly run we are.
And now word is Vince may be looking to jump ship? How fitting. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I'm trying to beat him out the door. Steve touted him as this great leader and he came in promising to make changes but he's done nothing. Outside of the swag he's so proud of, he's made a mess of something we didn't think could get worse. We still have the same backorder issues, can't contract for shit, can't launch a product and zero communication.
If you're not making money this year, you don't want to be here next year when he makes us a "specialty" sales force. All because ZS Associates said so, a group he's used in the past to change the other organizations he's left in shambles. Ask them how that went. Better yet, ask the CPM's who are have 2 products to sell as CV specialty reps. How many are making their number selling Coseal and Preveleak? Standalone GYN and Spine reps. Won't that be fun?

That's part of what the managers are going to Deerfield at the end of the month to plan for. Sounds as if its a done deal. When will Vince learn that we aren't an orthopedic company and you can't force that structure here. That guy simply refuses to listen to anyone. Except ZS apparently.

When we would ask for CV surgeons names from regions for labs etc it used to be crickets. Now the regions have good relationships with CV customers. I'm not in the CV space anymore but it seems to be a major improvement. Sorry that it sounds like it is unsupported by the field team. How can we focus on all of surgery? Certain specialties will always fall through the cracks

Knowing their names was never the problem. Marketing simply didn’t know what to do with the names we gave them. Surgeons know us but we just have nothing to offer them beyond what they’re already using. Look at our Coseal and Preveleak sales. They aren’t jumping up even with a “dedicated” sales team.
