Sales Manager Hours

Does anyone actually believe the first post is true? So gullible. Look at what RBD Dummy Whos is doing to reps in the Northeast? The question comes from Dummy Who's level or higher so they can start squeezing DMs like they're now doing to the field.

Such a lazy way to drive accountability. But I hope Dummy Who's and his glad-handing managers realize how soft and non-corageous they are for rolling this out.

Wait til Dummy Whos has about 15 vacancies come fall. There is a mass exodus about to happen. Tenured people are not going to put up with this pile of horse shit and the managers are nothing more than puppets; don't have an ounce of courage to stand up to Dummy. Oh well, all good things always come to an end, especially when the house gets infested w/ washed up J&J drones!!!

I wonder how many fearful managers paused for a moment and thought...How would I as a DM like it if my RBD had a way to implement oversight to my DM role where they could electronically view when I started and ended my day and began holding me...the DM accountable to that? What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Right? Sophomoric leadership at its best!

So I just came back to look at more responses and they are interesting to say the least. For the guy who responded who was skeptical on the posed question, I can asure you I have nothing to do with this company or even industry. You reference a "dummy who" I don't even know what that means.

I was with my buddy who I was originally arguing with regarding this whole topic this weekend and told him what some of the responses had to offer and he was on the fence.

I still do not know how a pharma manger would or could have to work so many hours. This person constantly talks about the amount of time he spends working and it really baffles me. I get the travel portion of it as my position is all inclusive of the East but this guy states he is working on the weekends, Sunday nights, etc.

So I guess you had the first response saying 60 hours a week is low for hours worked (hard to believe/maybe its the guy who I am speaking about!) and others saying 30 hours is a stretch.

The debate will continue

I may have responded before with this. As a manager, my philosophy was to do whatever I had to do to support my reps and keep my boss happy. If a task takes 10 hours to complete, then 10 hours it is, but, if it takes two hours then two hours it is.
I also made it my policy is that the work got done on company time. Sure, I worked a night or a Sunday occasionally.
Field rides weren't always all day. My competent reps don't need babysitting. Luckily, I was blessed with 98% competent reps. If I returned home/ office, or the hotel on the road, I worked, not play. No emails or phone calls after 6pm and weekends. Family time is my number 1 priority, the job is further down the list.
We are always in the top ten districts in the region and company. Why your buddy is killing himself is a mystery. Single, Workaholic, OCD, insecure? Who knows, but 60 hrs is crazy. He's wasting his life.

Did some in car with an applicant the other Day. Someone had clearly prepped this young lady. About 2:30 she asked me- "well at what point today do I suck you off!" I immediately parked and said that time is now! Whew!!!
