Does it make sense to artificially force the healthy pancreas to produce and store insulin with mega doses of long acting laboratory GLP1, and then give the pancreas less “glucose dependent” release of stored insulin? Less opportunities to release stored insulin because people are eating less and loosing weight. This is truly Frankenstein science at its best. I hope Robert Kennedy learns of this situation and puts an end to it. Natural Human GLP1 lasts for a few minutes and can’t be patented. These laboratory artificial long acting GLP1 hormones being pushed for weight loss has pancreatitis in their package inserts. Pancreatitis is a know risk factor for pancreatic cancer.

All diabetics have increased risk of pancreatitis. GLP1 has been studied in diabetics since the 1980’s. If both placebo control and medication arms of studies both include diabetics, the diabetic studies were likely not large enough to have the statistical power to show true amount of pancreatitis these synthetic hormones cause. Now that mega doses of these engineered hormones are being used on otherwise healthly people for temporary cosmetic weight loss, we will see true damage to healthy pancreas. People will need their pancreas for their life time. Why subject healthy pancreas to laboratory engineered hormones with mega doses of long acting? Crazy.
 




How did your weight loss product get through pre clinical testing? Usually when significant cancer formation occurs is rats, research in humans is not authorized. You should read cancer warnings in your package insert.
 




The change is coming and not a minute too late. Diabetes will destroy our society more than the obesity already has. I’ve been in pharma for over 30 years and all the fear mongers and hand wringers have been wrong about our demise, we just need to adapt. As for doing away with the ads, the physicians would love it
 




30 years ago 70% of prescriptions written were branded and 30% were generic. Today less than 10% are branded and over 90% are generic. This industry is the wrong career choice for young people.
 




Few people in government care about the pharmaceutical industry. The states with the most pharmaceutical employment are North Carolina, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. U.S. representatives with constituents in those states may care slightly about pharmaceutical industry interests. Everyone else is tired of paying 10x the price as Canada, UK, Germany, and Japan for same branded medicines. It is going to get more difficult for this industry to launch next greatest medicines to compete with fantastic generics. It didn’t help that marketing, sales, accounting and Lawyers get paid more than research scientists. Why get a PhD?
