Rep cuts

Any idea how many reps will be cut by percent and when it starts? What kind of packages?

I'm guessing that half of the Port 1's will go. That's the best case scenario. Worst case is that half of us all will go.

The last time I checked the HR site, it spelled out the severance packages. The last one wasn't as good as the previous ones were, but it was still pretty good. As of January 2012, they get significantly less generous; i can't remember how much less, but it was a big drop. Thus, the hatchet won't fall until after the new year begins.

The plan is one rep per territory with hospital reps joining the tablet district. Vaccines will be sold by PDs & MVCC. Total US sales force to be about 1500. Consultants have been hired. 90 day announcement late 3rd qtr. Be Brave!

it cant be that deep-you cant have reps selling 10 products. we have heard nothing about cuts from above. if it happens, it wont be this year, and maybe not even next year.

Of course this could happen, do we really sell products that are old? The answer is no! We have so many products that do not need rep details. Many of our competitors have gone generic. Many hospital systems will be switching the the generic product. We have and will continue to lose a ton of business! We are done, it is only a matter of time. I think the end of this year makes total sense.

In January, the hatchet falls. If not for the severance reductions effective January 1, 2012, that hatchet would be falling now.

They will try to get people to quit before year's end. They'll screw you out of your 2011 bonus if you quit, so make them fire you when they turn up the heat. It's happening all over the nation right now.

where is it happening across the nation?
Is everybody on this site doomsdayers, or is this the way its really going to be?
I dont know of one person in our district(and a couple of individuals are performing poorly), one person in our region, or one person in the company that is feeling like they are being forced out.
If it does happen, I think it takes a long time these days to get rid of people

Well, I'm a pain in the ass and my numbers are not good. So far no one has threatened me with anything but I wish, oh how I wish, to have a package and get let go. Please no one come back and say my attitude is why my numbers suck. I have been sporting a positive can-do attitude all year and working 10 hour days. Tactics approved by my manager and still shut down or shut out by all attempts, even my extended team has tried. I think OUR division's days are numbered. Really, really sad. I remember when this job was fun and nurses, managers, pharmacy and docs actually enjoyed visiting with us and getting a few details.

Look around you. How many people are gone in the last two years? The reorganizations do mask the impact, but it's happened to hundreds of reps recently. I know of three personally in just the last 7-8 months. They all are pressured in the same way, the same steps being taken, the same "bring your laptop" meetings, which are actually investigation ambushes. It's despicable. The company is a mess, if you're not one of the naive idiots who can't open their eyes. You are exactly the kind of rep that they want to keep around---stupid and naive.

Name one place and division where this is happening. What the heck do you think anyone will find on our laptops? "Investigational meetings:" for what? LOL

Im the one who posted this question that you answered and I have been here for 26 years. If you were here, I would kick your ass. Who do you think you are calling everyone stupid and naive? Maybe those of your ilk and attitude helped us get to where we are right now. I simply asked this question because everything on here seems to be overly negative, and most of the time flat-out wrong. If you dont believe it, go back and look at the threads promising/predicting layoffs of huge proportions. I suspect your probably one of the 30 year old gen-Xers who doesnt really know what pharma reps used to do, and how great it used to be. You talk about reorganization-where? when? I have heard nothing but things on the contrary to what you say by people who are a bit higher than the S1 reps. Its not happening anywhere that I know.

great post-I agree-these younger pricks think they know all the answers. They are the reason why we have tumbled.

Real experience here as a tenured rep dealing with all these smarty pants young pricks. Young pricks said they all know how to use computers. We went to a computer training and young pricks picked their private parts and BS and said they got it and acted bored. Young pricks then called me night and day and asked me how to do this and that. To add insults to it all, they got upset because they called early in the morning, late at night, right before a project was due, and you could not help them right there with a quick solution. Yes, some young pricks did not even know you have to connect your laptop to a printer with an USB printer cable. This was way before we had wireless printing. These young pricks told the interviewing managers that they "know" how to use a computer.
