I love this...We've been approved for mere weeks, and already we're tearing our leadership down and saying how much they suck. If we believe that WE were chosen because WE were so great, then why don't we give these guys the benefit of the doubt, until proven otherwise?
If we're talking about the same person, I will agree that Pfizer is a dead company, with tons of deadwood and mediocre people. HOWEVER, if you just assume that 99% of PFE employees suck, and 1% of Pfizer's employees are excellent, that adds up to over 800 great employees who are too valuable to accept the status quo at PFE, and therefore some of these folks who end up at places like VRTX will likely be some of the good ones.
Having worked there for decades, I can tell you that this individual is one of these "Finite Few" people, and in fact I would say that he was the best colleague I ever worked with at Pfizer or elsewhere. He will never brag about his accomplishments, but he's been incredible in sales, sales management, strategy, new products, managed markets and multiple other roles. He is always first to give others credit, but when you look below the surface, he's ALWAYS been instrumental to the big wins and key gains his teams have achieved.
Before you knock the guy because he doesn't walk around espousing his successes, take a minute to find out about him. Ask people that have worked with him in the past - there are plenty at VRTX that have. Spend some time with him...it won't take you long to realize that he will be a great leader, and someone that you can trust. How many people can you say that about at Vertex?
