I just learned the head of our acct team has no previous payer experience with biologics. How can that happen? I thought we we only were hiring the best -those with experience.

I have experience - I came from Pfizer which is the best of the best. Doesnt matter that we didnt have a biologic, we had attitude.

I had a talk with head of acct team and he didn't seem to very excited about launching TLV, he seemed to be more exicited about travel plans coming up end of this month...is he serious? who hired him?

Happy launch meeting everyone!!!

Pfizer had travel restrictions so not much chance to build those frequent flyer miles.

Coverage is going to be very poor to start, so if Vertex is living in the 6-8 month land of "have to get MS now" approach.......well then it is going to suck here!

That is not what we were promised - our A Team Acct team - was to be the best of the best. Our products are superior and so we should expect nothing but superior access. Someboyd blew smoke up mgmts act. Looks like we are living in the world of selective memory.

Pfizer is all attitude and no substance! Let the results speak for themselves.

The guy who heads our acct team was only a field director , managing local acct mgrs who covered the primary care products. No experience in access strategy and certainly no experience in biologics and specialty pharmacy. Next time you see him, ask him about his background.

By all means don't mention that the emperor has no clothes. Don't you just love the theater reference.

I love this...We've been approved for mere weeks, and already we're tearing our leadership down and saying how much they suck. If we believe that WE were chosen because WE were so great, then why don't we give these guys the benefit of the doubt, until proven otherwise?

If we're talking about the same person, I will agree that Pfizer is a dead company, with tons of deadwood and mediocre people. HOWEVER, if you just assume that 99% of PFE employees suck, and 1% of Pfizer's employees are excellent, that adds up to over 800 great employees who are too valuable to accept the status quo at PFE, and therefore some of these folks who end up at places like VRTX will likely be some of the good ones.

Having worked there for decades, I can tell you that this individual is one of these "Finite Few" people, and in fact I would say that he was the best colleague I ever worked with at Pfizer or elsewhere. He will never brag about his accomplishments, but he's been incredible in sales, sales management, strategy, new products, managed markets and multiple other roles. He is always first to give others credit, but when you look below the surface, he's ALWAYS been instrumental to the big wins and key gains his teams have achieved.

Before you knock the guy because he doesn't walk around espousing his successes, take a minute to find out about him. Ask people that have worked with him in the past - there are plenty at VRTX that have. Spend some time with him...it won't take you long to realize that he will be a great leader, and someone that you can trust. How many people can you say that about at Vertex?

yes...by all means talk to people that worked with him at Pfizer. I seriously doubt you'll find anyone who thinks of him as a dynamic leader or has any respect for him. No one who knows him would have written that last post. He probably posted it himself.
Really Jeffie...that is sad.

Oh - sorry. I thought that we were talking about one of his direct reports. I'll get out of your way.
