Recruiter called for contract position

First of all, I'm not hear to get anyone's panties in a wad. But after reading some of the threads on BI's page and a couple on Ashfield Healthcare's page. I have a couple questions.

I know how hard it is to go through a RIF, so please don't mistake my questions for anything other than what it is..

I've been contacted and just offered a position today with Ashfield for a part time CSO positions. As I read some of the threes on here, I wonder.. Do all the BI reps that jus got displaced, or jobs are still in jeopardy honestly feel that a new hire Ashfield rep is "stealing your jobs"? I do not have any Pharma sales experience, and I'm new to the CSO arena.. My background is surgical device implant sales. And unfortunately I recently went through a RIF and an currently seeking a new opportunity. I feel that if it's true that the remaining BI reps have this animosity towards any Respitory Ashfield rep that they are just waiting to see them in the field to "through them under the bus, step on their toes.. Etc" I might not want any part of this.... It seems that Ashfield reps will not be trained on the extensive details the way all the tenured BI reps are with their clinical knowledge and experience with managed care, but if the remaining BI reps can't work nicely and understand that Ashfield reps (from my knowledge without knowing the insiders" took a job opportunity for just what it was, a job opportunity and income to support their family.. The CSO is complete rubbis...

I get it, it sucks. Work your ass off for a company that in a blink of an eye can crush your life because the loyalty isn't where it should be, with the sales force they hired and trained. Waiting in limbo to receive what seems like only shades of grey information with too many hidden lies to know what to believe.. Reorgs and RIF are common in Medicl device sales, the CSO is not as common in med device sales.

Bottom line,

I need a job to support my family currently, I want to learn is much as I can and I know I c can sell... But I can't stand the thought of accepting a position that is ultimately determining another sales reps future if this is indeed true..

Obviously Cafepharma was created for pharma companies and employees and not for med device. I see it too on the med device threads, but not to the same extent of negatively and trash talking as I see on any pharma companies page..

What's the future hold? I understand the need to cut costs, the entire healthcare industry is trying desperately to cut costs where need be, contract out people and save on employers liability and benefits they don't pay to a CSO... HOw can this ship her turned back around? How can BI and the Ashfield reps row all their paddles in the same direction? A rising tide lifts all boats.

Fuck off Euro-douche. No one in America uses the word "rubbish."

Firstly, sales ability in Pharma sales position doesn't mean shit. no correlation. if you want to hit presidents club then count the number of plans for your drug where you have tier 2 lowest branded copayment access. if your state only has a few plans then you will never hit your goals. it simple, get an app and check the status before you accept position. So any idea of all paddles is asinine.

Secondly, CSOs are sample droppers that give all of us main company workers a bad name to docs. they then think that's what all of us do. why would you do anything other than sample drop; seriously, why would anyone bust their ass for a no benefits, no longterm position. You are a fool if you do this.

Thirdly, it pisses off us main workers that sample droppers make money off our work.

It is for these reasons no BI rep will associate with you Ash ppl. Sorry, it sucks but as our diabetes commercial says, "That's life"

If the retained reps are smart they WILL work with the Ashfield counterparts to gain sales. There are many good reps that have displaced and now work contract. I started as a contract rep in this industry years ago and worked hard to prove myself to my team. I believe that this is still often the case. You have a family to provide for so I would take the job if I were you. Now the job pool is sadly filling with pharma reps, (AZ is laying off today). Just remember that contracts can be terminated at the blink of an eye. Your choice. Good luck.

I'd be happy for a job - if this is ashfield, inventive, etc then I don't care. Don't mistake my need to feed my family with a desire to work for ash. I could care less what company is on my name badge.

Bingo...you are 1,000 percent correct on this.

Save all your money. Have confidence in yourself. Don't worry.

Also, these big name companies are NOT good jobs anymore. They micro manage and they treat their employees like crap.

You have a lot to learn in life with this stupid comment.

Read this in 5-10 years, and you will see how stupid you were.

Or, you might be an all time dummy, that never seeks to learn. And, if that is the case, get help. And you are welcome for me pointing this out to your dumb ass.

Funny, you said a lot but you actually never proved why id be wrong. Just saying somebody is wrong without spending the time to say why shows me you are dumber than stone (see I said stone because you Euro-fucks don't say rocks). Happy now?

I thought he made some good points. What exactly did you point out?

Wow, you are so dense. You are perfect for this industry!

Look, dummy, it doesn't matter what company you work for. Contract is the same as any other job. In fact, the manufacturer jobs are worse. You can think about that and get back to me on that. Your pea mind is probably going to take some time to understand that.

So, the key is to just keep working and save up. That is it. Status is for dumb people. There is no future in any industry, and that is double for this fucked up industry.

Good luck. You are going to need it. What's on TV for you tonight? Kim K. or American Gladiators. No. You probably are watching re runs of the Maury Povich show. You go girl!

I have worked contract twice and came into BI through a contract. I am still here. My counterparts were always decent me. You have to remember that CP is mostly unhappy trolls who want to bait others. You will think that every company is awful if you read their boards.

The bottom line is that no BI rep will keep a job if you decline a position with Ashfield. All of the positions will be filled by Ashfield and those jobs are already gone to us. Somebody is going to fill that job and it might as well be you.
Good Luck

I have worked contract twice and came into BI that way It was not long after the 2009 layoffs. My BI counterparts were all decent to me. You will think all companies are awful if you read their boards because most people who spend time here are very unhappy.

All of the Ashfield positions will be filled by contract employees. Those jobs are already lost to us. Someone will take the job and it may as well be you.

Good Luck!!

You have s scattered mind. I wrote there is a material difference in what a company rep does and what a contract rep does and you talk about manufacturing reps. You wandered to a different topic and shows me you can't stick to the parameters of the post.

A company rep has a real reason to work hard - benefits, 401k, pension, status of not being a rent-a-rep that makes them spend time trying to convince someone to try my drug.

A CSO has no real vested interest in other than sample dropping. Why would they want to do more? In your response you said I was dumb. Okay, tell me what there would be no difference between these two jobs. Saying manufacturing reps sucks as a job really isn't relevant now is it? Okay, the industry is dying. I get that. But does that say/prove that there's no difference between what a company vs a cso work? Nope.

You clearly can do nothing but hurl insults. Does this make you look like anything other than a ignorant fool? I let you tell me.

I spend time talking to college educated doctors. The last thing I would want to do is try and talk to a high school educated foreman at a factory. We would have nothing in common. Manufacturing sales would suck for me.

Oh, MP is the best though. Love those you are not the father shows!!! The best.
