Product launch? New sales force?

The concern I have is more about the product and its market place. Yes a great novel product.... But one that is 25 years too late. TD was a real issue before the advent of atypical antipsychotics. .. Lots of patients in CMHC s who you could see with the problem. Now I can't remember seeing any patients in CMHC s or even State Hospital with the disease in the last 15 plus years.

secondly, the market place is very influenced by cost and the use of generics as the patient population is one that typically does not have health insurance except for Medicaid or other state funding.

Finally, access in State institutions is very highly limited. A sales person is seen as a lobbyist which is many time a quasi illegal situtuation in these facilities. No lunches on the campuses ect. No access to see the staff much less the dr.s.

For a disease state that really is declining or is not seen as one to warrant big time funding... Adding to formularies.

Again, great that we have the potential product, but I can't see the potential to support an actual sales force.

I agree with all these points which is why I'm considering not taking the interview. The money sounds good but I really am having a hard time comprehending where the growth for this product will take place seeing TD is not as relevant because of the newer generation atypicals. Unless, they can score a few more indications I just don't know how this drug can be profitable in the long run. Does anyone else have any thoughts?

I agree completely. The sales position seems less than short term.

Please tell me .... I beg of you .... how the hell did Denise and Bethann get to be in those positions? I was at the hub interview and was less than impressed as were many of the other candidates with these two individuals. Absolutely amazing in the level of displayed incompetence

I went to hub interviews and I was impressed. It seems to me that they have a business plan that is well thought out. How the market will respond is anyone's guess, but at least they are prepared. Oh and I haven't gotten an offer yet. I am just sharing my experienced opinion.

Every company has a launch plan until they are smacked in the face by the reality that the market is tiny and managed care says hell no! Seen this at least 5 times in the last 3 years, this will not fly
