Maybe you are not aware but you can always contact HR to put in for hand raising. I did it last
year and they gave me the package last December layoffs in Primary Care. Not a big deal and did it in June and had no repercussions from mgr. I don't believe they are alerted until time to decide at downsizing.
Hand raising is ongoing and for me it had no impact when I submitted it maybe different from others.
I would encourage those who want out to send to HR after contacting the apropriate HR rep for your area, they will send you a special email address to send it to. Nothing else is said or done other than they acknowledged your request but does not mean you will be selected.
Best thing I ever did after 18 years with Merck.
Take the lump sum and invest it wisely. I already made much more than the piddly returns you get if you keep it with Merck, plus interest rates go up your lump sum will go down.
When I say take the lump sum transfer it over to an IRA and you will not be dinged for taxes.
Only penalized extra 10% for early withdraw before 59.5 yeRs old, otherwise taxed as normal earned income.
