Preventing the next Kodak?

Wound Closure division is moving to Medical Supplies. Hernia will be gutted. Sales teams will be merged together and EBD and EMID sales teams will be merged. Cuts are not predetermined yet. That will largely be based on geography and performance.

From reading this thread, it appears that the entire sales force will be systematically eliminated. Ebd, EMID, Hernia, Suture....everyone is losing their ass? Is anything set in stone, or is this all speculation?

Pathetic. Starting rumors that have no validity. The cuts which will be minimal will be like last year at best. EBD will not be carrying EMID's product lines. They would have to go back to training and learn all of the product lines, procedures, etc. Quite honestly, it would be easier to take EBD and give it to EMID. Plus can Covidien afford to remove groups of current reps to go into a training cycle and afford to lose potential sales. How many EBD reps are in each city? If you only have one and they have to go through training where are the sales going to come from? Then take into account the rep since they are in training will lose out on potentil commissions, which reduces their w-2 which pisses them off, which leads to them to start looking.

Look at Covidien's job board and you can see where they are going. A lot of openings for entry level positions to grow into full line roles. They are doing what Ethicon, Bard and the others have been doing for years. Wait until they start bringing in junior military officers. Ethicon/J&J has been doing that for at least 15 years. Get the trained military officer who has management experience already at the age of 23-26 managing 5-20 enlisted people, train them on med devices, give them a salary higher than what they were making in the miltary O-3 at 4 years only makes 52k currently so 55-60k base to make 85-105k first year depending on position, plus med benefits plus company car. Sounds good to them and saves Covidien some cash which goes to the bottom line.

Not to mention the tax incentive to hire Jr Military, which is not a bad thing. I have worked for a couple of exceptional ex military guys. At least they are TRAINED LEADERS!

TDR's and support sellers are gone come september 30. Some random reps here and there will also be gone. Fewer AVPs and consolidation of managers will also occur. That's all. New company cars will be used Dodge Neons and no more gas cards.

believe nothing

By this point, a large percentage of the sales force across multiple divisions have been asked about the points made in this thread. They may stop believing these points when an announcement is made contrary to them.

They may also continue to believe them if they are not addressed.

Many are wondering if they will have a job in 1-2 months.
