Practice Account Managers

I spoke with HR for open position last week. Salary is based on experience and current range. She did not ask my exact salary but I was honest with my expectations on what it would take for me to consider leaving my current job. I’ve been in rare disease for almost 12yrs and held other commercial roles in leadership positions. For me, it would have to be 190-200k and that’s bc my current salary is 185k so it wouldn’t be a huge raise to make the jump. However, the company and opportunity sounds like it could be amazing. I’ll keep you posted if this works out.

My advice is ask for about 20% hike or at least 225K. HR loves the aggressive, out-going, confident type applicants. They are under pressure to hire the high pot (potential) applicants. The starting base is not what they are measured against.

concur with this post, you must exhibit confidence and optimism for a position like this which is, at best, a long shot for success. why would you leave a secure job in pharma and take this position unless you are getting well rewarded for the high risk?

This product IMO is a scam, and has a very short life.
 






So my friend applied for a position who has a stellar resume with multiple pclubs at every job held, been a manager, trainer, and currently a KAM in rare disease no under 40yrs old. I have nothing close to his background and success and I’m pushing 50 but I’m getting an upcoming interview. He got the generic HR rejection letter of sorry we are moving forward with other candidates who more match the job, blah, blah, blah. I had hoped we could both work together again as we live in different states as the opportunity seems promising. I’m just shocked they didn’t even give this guy a chance to interview.

Another possibility is these opportunities are B'S scams and he would figger it out and report to Feds!

You have no chance as your age being 50 is very old and makes you almost a fossil.

Startups always have risk. We all know that. It's going to be a steep uphill climb for this product to take off. Your points are valid. If gainfully employed, stay where you are. If this company can get things rolling and you can join in two years then that would put you in a good position - stay where I am or joing this company. But right now, its risky.

you are prudent to stay where you are. this company is a risky proposition and could tank very quickly, even if it gits off the ground. Stay where you are and just keep an eye on this enterprise and if its around in 2 years then mayne you should reconsider

Funny, you would think 50 is old. I’m getting an interview and it’s confirmed so we’ll see if the money is right and something I wanna do. I was just simply stating that I don’t know how HR discerns from resume especially when my friend didn’t even get pushed on. IMO, that overqualified excuse is bs. Someone who has just been successful wouldn’t be a training problem...they bring that success with them to the new company. Their loss bc I know they passed on a performer.

Geez! Give it up. You’re best buddy didn’t get an interview. Get over it.

Competition for these coveted positions is extremely fierce and last I checked only two openings remain in the nation. Make sure you bring up how your buddy was passed over during the interview. That’ll wow ‘em.
 






Not the OP here for the person who posted about his friend not moving on or the poster who continues to berate the one who did. With that says, I don’t see what’s the big deal in making a statement about someone who has better success than you and wondering what criteria was used from HR? Seems like the poster who brought up age at 50 appears insecure that this individual is getting an interview. Why does age need to be a factor if you have the skills and competencies with a brag book full of accolades?

Sheeeew, now that’s out of the way...I’m interviewing the first week of December and the hiring manager told me this week he still wasn’t sure on total comp. Hopefully in a few weeks I can come back and report any info I get. Until then, let’s try and be nice and use this platform for sharing pertinent things...not Bob’s age, Jennifer’s friend Max who sounds awesome and isn’t getting an interview, or upset that salary range for MS shouldn’t be that high. We are all blessed in this industry to have a job right now as some companies waited by the phone for downsizing. Perhaps, we should keep those in our thoughts and prayers bc having this happen right before the holidays just crushes the spirit.

Most rank & file reps are wise enough to avoid high risk and huckster enterprises as we suspect this may be. A secure high paying job at a world class company is far preferable to a bs based product ! LOL
 






I don’t think it will be long before the company is acquired by bigger pharmaceutical companies once Palforzia gets approval. Earn your paychecks and take those stock options
 
























It feels great to have been hired by a company with such a great pipeline. Palforzia is going to be a big hit. I’ve been on the phones and allergists are super stoked about it! Phones ringing off the hook. Could use a bigger office though, but the pay, options and bonus make this a wonderful journey in life for me.
