I have recently broke in to med device sales with lincare and find this back and forth troubling. My office staff is professonal and pleasant and I look forward to repping the highest quality reapironics concentrator medical devices on the market. Does anyone have some real life experiences as to success stories and how to bypass the gate keeper at the clinic and hospital? Excited for the opportunity to break into med device with Linde.

Of course I am. I've been in for two interviews and have the offer in a tight job market in my region. The area manager says this is very similar to pharma and on top of repping the devices I'll also be pushing respiratory meds hand in hand working closely with a couple pharmaceutical reps. Is this not true?

I am a current sales rep and this position is NOT anywhere close to a device position. You can earn a decent living if you work your ass off, are lucky enough to have a GREAT office, and will out up with a heaping load of BS.

Most reps are NOT lucky enough to have a good staff behind them. It is unbelievable how bad some offices are. You have to fight for each and every commission you get. RBCO is nonresponsive and our marketing staff is so out of touch with what really occurs out in the field on a daily basis.

If you need a job that badly go for it.

You are NOT repping the devices, trust me those corporations have reps to do that. You are repping the service of those devices. All dme's essentially carry the same brands of equipment, you are competing with other dme's to get the referrals of the service.

Ok bud! I give you 6 to 10 months like 90% of the newly hired Lincare reps!! Good luck, if you really want to endure & succeed in this business you 1st must be open to listen & learn. But before even being hired you know it all.

Let's make this simpler for you. When you go in to see a physician, do you give a feature and benefit of the medical device? No. Do you give a feature and benefit of a pharmaceutical product? No. You could not promote the pharmaceutical product in that manner because of compliance issues that you would not understand and that would be too lengthy to go into on this post. Lincare provides a medical service - they provide the patient with medical therapy. Lincare is not alone in this market, as there are several competitors that the patient can get their therapy from. That means that you should be giving features and benefits of Lincare. Otherwise, your competitor will swoop in with the same medical device or pharmaceutical product that you have been promoting and offer it better, faster, cheaper. While you may be in medical sales, you are not in device sales.

Come back on the board once you make it past a year newbie. Chances are extremely high you won't make it that long. Especially with your know it all attitude.
