A recruiter called me today about the Pittsburgh, PA area. Mentioned that there may be some turnover in the works. I'm new to the industry; he said that there are tenured reps struggling with numbers. Any info.
The positon was not for primary care. There may be a hiring freeze, but is any position guaranteed, if business / share is soft? There are senior reps there that may be at risk.
No position is guaranteed, especially if you fell in the bottom 10%.
Recruiter called again, b/c of some meeting. Do you know what the meeting was?
Pittsburgh Reps were under the microscope.
Commented that production is weak, and again, changes eventually will be made, sooner or later he didn't immediately know.
He'll be in touch next week.

WHAT HIRING FREEZE!!!! There is no hiring freeze at Merck. Check out all the job boards, Merck is hiring.
what is the news about pittsburgh? no news here. hiring freeze for keystone region and vacancies in pitt will be left vacant. never had good coverage on products. all pharma companies in the same boat with managed care in west pa.
All the more reason to start making a change. So what, we've never had good coverage in pa... and you think your job is safe. From what prestigious business college do you graduate???
Just b/c you're a pharma rep, you think you can be melded in with the masses. I've got news for you. Whether you realize it or not, you are stack ranked in every category imaginable against your peers. Mngr vs. mngr, rep vs rep, Mngd cr spec vs. Mngd cr spec... everyone is compared.
If you have 'bad coverage on Merck products in west pa.' you had better find a reason to start gaining share or feel comfortable hitting the skid, regardless of managed care.
And trust me, the Managed Care Spec. in town is shaking in her boots too.
