Performance Issue

Based on analysis of launch performance for the 1st half of 2024, your territory was determined to be underperforming. In addition, we have evaluated territory performance in Q3. Your territory has been flagged as underperforming for this launch period as well. As a result, your territory is being placed on a performance improvement plan. We will reevaluate the territory performance 30 days from today.
Performance Standards
The territory performance must meet the following criteria to be considered progressing and no longer underperforming:
  • The territory must meet or exceed the TRx growth% of the nation.
  • The territory must meet or exceed the NRX growth% of the nation
  • The territory must meet or exceed the national average for new writer acquisition. Weekly Expectations
  • Progress with target accounts to be discussed on weekly calls and tracked via Veeva
  • Day to day planning focused on following sales direction, implementing clinical pieces to uncover clinical rationale and treatment practices.
  • 1:1 calls, we will review current sales performance based on the weekly report. Please be ready to discuss how your weekly sales compare to your weekly sales goal
  • We will also discuss your scheduled activity for the upcoming week (in-services, lunches, provider meetings, etc.).
  • Scheduled activity for the upcoming week should be emailed to RSM no later than COB every Friday.
  • CC me on all follow-up communications to customers. The email communications should reinforce the next steps in the sales process between you and the customer and the expectations agreed upon from each of you. Yes this is the exact PIP I received. My manager told me it would not be able to get off this PIP and would be fired within 30 days of not meeting expectations. Im applying for jobs right now.

Exactly! Other than demonstrating your behaviors/actions have changed nothing tangible will flow through for months. Even then if you are just an average effort sales rep its only a matter of degrees that can change.

The lowest of low reps, those that go out for two hours twice a week are the only ones that can really demonstrate a behavioral change.

Unhealthy, toxic, layoff in disguise so that management can keep their positions by blaming the sales team.

Voquezna is a great product and patient feedback to physicians has been excellent. I think the stock is a buy at this low price. Management shouldn’t have done the PIPs, that was dumb. I do believe though the company and stock will be in a great position 6-9 months from now.

Wishful thinking. Unless they clean house on the management side this dumb is done.
 






In my experience, the primary reason for the failure of PIPs lies in the irreparable fracture they create in the relationship between the employee and manager. Once the PIP process begins, this fracture in trust is seldom repaired.
 






Employees aren’t solely responsible for performance!

It seems that Phathom is only holding their reps accountable. Rarely is poor performance solely because of the employee. Many factors contribute such as a lack of resources, inadequate support, tone deaf leadership, budgetary restrictions, coverage etc. “A PIP may be the result of a single employee’s failure — but just as often, it’s a symptom of organizational or managerial shortcomings.
 






Any managers that fail to defend their teams, is a failure of yourselves. You hired these reps.

It is simply a matter of time before YOU are on the chopping block yourself.

What comes around goes around. All fine and dandy until it happens to you.

Only the good managers are the ones taking a stand. Shame on the rest of you!
