Pharma Culture

I guess we need that culture, huh? If you're over 40 get out now! You need to be a cheer leader with no medical knowledge because sales people are "born". You can sell anything without a lot of product knowledge as long as you show up and look terrific. Can hardly wait for more of this nepotistic and incestuous BS to hit this industry. Why is it that we can't get management that understands what we do? Consolidating and screwing around with an industry that needs turn around time and quick service to compete. I guess we can spin-sell our fannies now and lie through our teeth. After all-Senior Management is on our side, right? Yeah I trust them. Hope their kids had a great Christmas!!!

Dr. Nichols once said that our business is providing data. That data is accurate clinical information that enables the physician to make informed decisions regarding patient care. Call it service or call it product, but I believe he was correct "accurate clinical information" is what we should provide.
The management clowns in place for the many years have had no clue what our business is really all about.

Why would being over 40 have anything to do with it.

Who is Dr. Nichols? Saint Nicholas? Santa?

Anyway-there are no CPT codes for reimbursement of "data" (including MAAAs) in 2013.

I am Rudolph, waiting for Santa to let me lead.

Quest is ridding itself of older people. That would be anyone over 40, maybe pushing 50. The Pharma companies are notorious for getting rid of older sales people regardless of how they perform. They don't want people with a good background in medical sales that might actually understand the test we are selling. That environment was definitely not Quest when I started, but I hear about it all the time. We need reps that understand this industry and grow it without being threatened all the time by younger management that knows nothing about what we do as a business. Oh, sure, Quest will lie about it and say it doesn't happen, but most of us know it's true. We've lost good people for no reason other than age, and these positions were filled with incompetent and inexperienced people. Makes me want to puke.

If you people are so unhappy? Why is it that you stay with this company? Nothing worst for an organization then a bunch of unhappy people that bad mouth the place they work in secret venues like cafe pharma. Life's to short to be miserable. Go somewhere else.

These people are actively disengaged - the worst possible scenario for an organization. Better wake up and smell the coffee, Steve. Rearranging the dance card isn't going to get you where you want to go.

Unhappy people have to find new jobs first. Takes a little time...

Have worked for Quest for >20 years, in a non-technical position, watching what the "new" upper management is doing is making me....well I was already unhappy before! Since Ken Freeman left, this company does nothing but spin spin spin. The basis of any data collection/dissemination service requires the basics to be solid and this company HAS NEVER HAD A SOLID BASE (i.e., sales and specimen processing). Sales are pretty people that may have a degree but can't find a CBC with their a$$e$. Specimen processing, at any facility, is a bunch of people that McDoo's wouldn't hire; no medical experience yet they are expected to work in a medical production environment. "Our New Quest" is laying off people all over the place but trumpets the fact they pick up new clients with multiple K$ a year. We will LOSE these clients and our reputation will be of FAILURE to provide the services we sell.
