Pfizer reports better-than-expected Q3 results

Vascepa lowered my triglycerides significantly. Fish oil at CVS didn't. Vascepa is about $5/month for me. Fish oil at CVS was over $20/mo. Vascepa has manufacturing standards with tested accuracy on a regular basis. Fish oil has none.

I'll stick with Vascepa until you show me an otc fish oil with FDA approved clinical studies with high quality manufacturing standards and less than $5/month. Only then, I'm on it like stink on shit.

In the end, it’s all bullshit to make a fast buck. After all this is Pharma. Fish oil is the modern form of snake oil sold out the backs of wagons in the Old West.
Statins aren’t the wonder drugs they're touted to be either.

Interesting.

What are your medical/research credentials?

How long have you been in practice?

Your advice sounds like the advice of a buffoon but I’m willing to listen to credible evidence.

Did you try Lovaza?

PharmD.
Clinical Pharmacist at leading teaching hospital in CA for 10 yrs.

Sister is a bench chemist for Merck.

You’re the buffoon to buy into all this crap. If triglycerides are in the highest ranges for V or L , just eating more fish will help.

Yes, started on Lovaza. It lowered my triglycerides about 1/3rd for a few years. Then I got switched because Vascepa had a card for $10/mo. My cheap ass gave it a shot. It actually lowered my triglycerides even further. They are a little less than half of my starting level. I did nothing differently.

Which is it? Snake oil crap or real medicine? Fish costs a hell of alot more than $10/month. Make up your fuckin mind! You're contradicting yourself.

Makes sense, congrats as high trigs is never good, I assume you are diabetic or pre?

NIH really should do valid clinical research on fish oil, CBD and some other compounds- I don’t doubt that Amarin’s oil is better than Walmart made in China bathtub crap; problem with otc products is no standardization makes it very difficult to know what you are really getting-,there is probably a business opportunity there. With all due respect I don’t think you can eat your way to significantly lower than unless you are starting from a really really really poor diet.

Although omega-6 fats are essential, the modern Western diet contains far more omega-6 fatty acids than necessary (37Trusted Source).

The recommended ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids in the diet is 4:1 or less. However, the Western diet has a ratio between 10:1 and 50:1.

Therefore, although omega-6 fats are essential in the right quantities, most people in the developed world should aim to reduce their omega-6 intake.

Both my great grandparents and grandparents, and my mom all lived into their late 80’s and early 90’s with excellent health. Their diets were Mediterranean because that’s all they had. When asked their “secret”...A teaspoon of olive oil and a glass of wine per day...... Good for them is good for me. They lived “ everything in moderation” because that’s all they knew.
It didn’t take a bunch of profiteering doctors, dietitians, Phd’s, and exercise phonies to te ll them how to live.
Omega this and that, Paleo, Keto, fasting, thousands of diet books and theories, Dr. Oz, and on and on. It’s genes, healthy food, and some exercise....anything that gets you off your ass is good. Don’t need to belong to a gym, have a personal trainer, a Peloton, Nordic Track, etc. etc. etc. As The Nike slogan said years ago, “ Just Do It!” works very successfullywithout spending thousands on equipment diets, the right clothes and shoes, etc.
Quantity or quality of life? Why live until you don’t know your name, pee your pants, and get drugged everyday while doctors, assisted living and nursing homes steal your money that took 75% of your life to earn and save? Why be a burden to your family?
Everything in moderation......Thank you, Great grandparents, Grandparents, Mom and Dad !
