People leaving the company…

So much truth in this post. I’m hoping someone with family wealth, a smart attorney on their side, gets handed a poorly constructed PIP. And the attorney digs in and actually asks the right questions about how data is compiled and collected here. At a previous, much larger pharma company, highly paid consultants admitted that the sales data is very inaccurate….And yet, these companies get away with layoffs and PIPs based on faulty data. That’s why it is so hard to listen to Senior Leaders talk “culture”, and the importance of “mental health”…just a big charade.

You can only hope that you have a decent manager, who recognizes effort and a strategic business approach, and who has the stones to stand up to a bully Regional Manager (they are rare, but they do exist).
Well, things have changed quite a bit in the legal world, my friend. First, courts as of late have sided more with the employer, verifying their right to let people go WITHOUT GIVING A REASON. There are States called "RIGHT TO WORK" States, which is a total joke, because the worker has NO rights. Any attorney is careful taking on cases were they don't have a strong case against the employer, because attorneys need to win cases to get clients.

As I said many times before here: Create your own income stream, whatever that is. The tide can turn against you any month. Otsuka will watch for a while, but only for a while. Just imagine if your top prescriber stops using Rexulti because of weight gain, or moves to another territory! You think Otsuka cares? Your numbers are down, and that's all they look at.

And finding another job is increasingly difficult. Many of the job ads posted are FAKE! According to the WSJ yesterday, about 1 in 5 job ads are fake, posted for the sole purpose of finding out the quality and quantity of the applicants IN CASE A JOB opens!

There is a new mental illness now, called "BOREOUT" ( derived from BURNOUT). It refers to people who are simply under- challenged and under-worked in their job. Signs and symptoms are: DEPRESSION!

This is not a joke. There are videos on the net on this. You know what happens when you are depressed? Your most valuable asst, YOUR BRAIN, SHRINKS!!!!!

Think about that, before you diminish what I posted. People at Otsuka are starting to recognize it and leaving in droves.
I left a few years ago. Was given my entry into pharma by Otsuka and I’m grateful for that but was severely underpaid. Spent a few years there bored out of my mind. Final blow was being assigned to a “sr HSA” as a weird intermediate manager who was an absolute nightmare. Do yall still have the word salad job names? Whatever 22 yr old McKenzie consultant came up with that shit is laughing their ass off it got accepted. No development, glorified delivery driver, lots of favoritism. I can tell you the grass is actually greener on the other side. I’m challenged at work every day, certainly has its cons too but at least I’m not a bored, disrespected rep with a downward sloping graph. Oh and I added 40k to my salary.

Attababy…took matters into your own hands.

Boredom is a recipe for a very sad, unengaged life. Boredom everyday is ok for the dull and dumb (they dont recognize either of those 2 conditions in themself). This gig is for the lazy. Or, a single parent that can drop kids off at school, pick them up, and get them to their after-school activity.

And, the kicker to this gig is that a rep receives a pretty Amex Card with their name on it, a company car, and they can tell the fam at Thanksgiving that they are a Pharmaceutical Rep (with a Liberal Arts or English Degree). After hearing Little Susie Rep boast about her career, Grandma and Grandpa roll their eyes because they are “getting jammed” in their Senior Years with overpriced meds.

I used to tell my mom that I worked in a factory to avoid her rant about Pharmaceutical Companies...and keep her proud of me for working “an honest day, for an honest wage…”

Well it seems more and more people are starting to finally wake up to the fact that a real life is out there, rather than driving around aimlessly all day with the sole purpose of adding miles to the company car in order to create the impression of "working".
You have absolutely no idea how mind dumbing and detrimental this job at Otsuka is, once you get out of it, or milk the company by having a side gig that is becoming your main job!

The way this job is now, your fate is in someone else's hands. You DM, and your customers. You can impact very little and every day it gets less...There will come the day when you ask yourself: Where do go today by Monday morning, because all the offices have been closed to reps. Besides, you have absolutely nothing to offer a customer is interested in.

If you stay here, you are a person that is either abusing him/herself, or has so little confidence to get a real job, that you see no options. That is no way to live my friend. You are lacking self esteem. Trust me. Fix that, ( yes it can beFixed) and you will realize and see the pathetic life you are living.
