Pay range- 85k to 125k
benefits- $120 per paycheck for a family. $25 copay at doctor and $15 for a prescription
10% match on 401k
Car- Buy your own car, do not take the company car. You will do better that way.

Is there one standard car, i.e. Ford Fusion or options of different cars? If territory will have LOTS of driving, wouldn i be better off with the company issued car rather than purchasing and maintaining my own?

Is there a pension?

What does the $120 per month go towards--to offset cost of health insurance?

3 weeks vacation to start?

No pensions, for new employees. $120 is your insurance. If you have a large territory better to own your own car as you can make money on miles.

As for how happy it just really matters who you ask.

Are people generally happy at Genentech?

As far as happiness in the job, that depends on who your direct report is. If you have a confident, low stress manager that is realistic and supportive it is a great place and a great company. If you have a psycho micro-manager that stresses over the slightest thing and assumes you must also be stressed to be doing your job correctly, you will be in hell.

Ask to talk to current or former members of this manager's team and ask what they think of the manager and his/her style. That should give you some insight. If the manager balks at giving you their contact info, beware, that's a very bad sign.

Did Pittsburgh get filled? Do reps get choice car allowance or company issued car? What is training like? How much in home study and away study? Do you work after 25th Dec?

lytics - what are details like salary range and car or car allowance and training? I am not familiar with training details of Genentech but hear its one of best companies to work and heard Pittsburgh job opening up. so what is training like? is it pretty intense like forest with 3 full weeks at corporate headquarters?

geez, what difference does the type of training make? If it's 3 weeks, it's 3 weeks. Not like it's Parris Island.

Indeed, if you have a great manager that lets you ignore their communications, turn in sloppy reports, turn in expense reports late, allow you to not work full days, you will be fine. If you have a manager that expects you to work, do your paperwork on time, adhere to company policies, meet your sales objectives, well of course you will be miserable.

Lytics yes and also interested in training details have small kids and single parent so it would be kind if someone can list details before I pursue applying for Pit job. I turned down Forest because I cant be away 3 full weeks =(

Always nice to hear from management. No mention was made of a good manager allowing turning in late reports, sloppy reports, violation of company policies, lack of working a full day or poor sales. You just made that up to made that up in a lame attempt to justify your comments. You still don't get it do you? If reps are happy and have confidence in their manager they will actually work better, more effectively, and will want to make their manager look great. In your case, however, I can safely say your reps hate you and your methods and don't put in the extra time and effort they would with another manager that they feel would have their back. You have a constant fear they are not doing what they should and always distrust them. Your fears are self fulfilling because you have created the atmosphere that makes these actions happen.

You'll keep managing the way you do because you are inflexible and lack the creativity to be able to do it right. Hopefully Genentech will rid itself of managers that sustain a culture like you create.

Hmmm? Is there something wrong with turning in accurate/complete reports and working a full day?

Read it again, Sparky. I think you missed the meaning. A manager can be a good leader and motivator and still expect his reps to have admin work done on time. In fact, it's not a problem with good managers because the reps always want them to look good so they can be counted on to have their reports on time. Reps will work a full day to drive sales to make their manager and their team look good. These items aren't problems for managers that know how to motivate in a positive manner. Am I confusing you?
