Pain Contract

I guessed... What do think? I asked about his background. I don't necessarily think you need to be in sales to conduct a good interview but when most of the interview is spent educating the interviewer on the differences between various sales positions, you know it's all downhill from there. This should have been where he asks me about specific highpoints in my career. The problem is this idiot could not get passed how a hospital success could possibly transition to specialty. He was an idiot. No clue. I certainly did not have two or three hours to help him understand sales.

Just curious, how do you and that other person know how much sales experience your interviewers have?

Because they admitted it, at least in my case. Mine was not a 28 year old though, it was someone in mid career. Call it sour grapes if you will but I did receive a verbal offer which I accepted but am seriously evaluating if this is where I want to be. It is good to hear that someone did have a professional and competent interviewer. Although, that could have been written by one of the interviewers, a PDI recruiter or a troll. I'm curious what those that interviewed with the VP of Sales thought or did she end up having someone else do all of her interviews. There was some major shifting as no one at my location ended up interviewing with anyone on their original schedule.

Just curious...

Has anyone received the "thanks but no thanks" call? Lol. I took a day off work last week and haven't heard a peep. I'm pretty sure I know what that means however I thought I would at least hear from someone saying they are going in a different direction. Anyone??

Nothing like being told, "I'll be in touch tomorrow morning no matter what" and then finally after they answer late the next day, again it's "tomorrow morning no matter what".... and then silence. Courtesy, please. Some of had to travel long distances, take a day off work etc...

.....got the rejection letter this morning. So, not even the courtesy of a phone call. Really pissed off at being told to copy and bring all that shit for nothing. Honestly, with as bad as my interviewer was, I feel I dodged a bullet. Still plenty of good biopharm jobs with products that you can actually move.

I received a verbal offer Friday. I was told I would get my email offer today and so far nothing! I am a little worried since I already gave notice due to the lack of communication with PDI. I was not told about a packet in the mail. Did anyone get their formal offer? I feel bad for some of yiu who had a bad interview. Mine was great, not at all like these posts. God has a plan for everyone! Hang in there!!!!!!

rejected today. I too had a wretched interview. The guy was chinese maybe and a complete moron. Since that represents the best of Purdue marketing, good luck on this sinking ship. Why would any company have a nonsales role interview for sales employees? Most companies have their district managers. Now I am reading a bunch are to be fired. None of this is good. Purdue has been struggling with sales for years. Throwing more reps into the field is lame.

Are any offers still waiting to go out? I have received no email rejection, no response from recruiter or call from anybody. I'm assuming I'm out, still would like to know!!

Don't feel too alone...I'm in the same boat. This has been a bit of a cluster from a communication stand point. I wouldn't put too much faith in any of the definitive comments on here about whether all offers are out or not. Seems like if you haven't received an offer or a dear john letter...than anything is possible still...especially if you interviewed last Wednesday. Good luck...Hopefully we will all know one way or another by tomorrow.

Just so you know they are a little busy tomorrow and Wednesday. I am guessing they did NOT inform you that some of you are not an expansion but a replacement of current employees. They are doing layoffs the next few days. This company has been shady and secretive about this all along.

hahaha! Have fun winners! What a fun place this will be to work. Nothing like entering a hostile fear-filled environment. You folks do realize that no one uses brand opioids? Insurance companies won't pay for them because there is zero value over current cheaper meds and a host of specialty pharmacies that can create innovative delivery. Read the Purdue pages. Half of them are getting canned. Don't think for a minute that this company hasn't come up with 100 ways to make your lives hell.

good luck on this sinking ship. I was part of the original wave in January. I left after 3 months due to Purdue manager was an absolute r***** to work for. He read every call note that you put in and wanted to know exactly what was said. I had 4 years experience in the pain market before hire and I hated every second of it. Ride alongs every 3 weeks with either manager or district trainer, (who was one of my counterparts). Money wasn't that good for the amount of crap that came with is. Also every rep that works for Purdue is looking to leave or ride the train till its last stop and honestly the lights are at the end of the tunnel can be seen at that stop. Really think about taking this job if you get offered.

Thanks for the input. All you need to do is go to the Purdue board to see that this is not exactly the best place to land. The problem is that most pharma reps will do just about anything to keep the ride going...even if it means dealing with the micro BS from above and selling a "me too" drug with crappy coverage. There just aren't many opportunities for lifers in the real world... especially opportunities that pay like pharma. Bottom line...stay and collect a check until the blood is out of the turnip or take your chances on the path less traveled. I'm forging my own path but good luck to all who accept this offer.

Man, January and you are still trolling PDIs cafepharma to talk down about a company that gave you a shot. Sounds like they lucked out getting rid of you. People should realize there is no perfect job out there and take the good with the bad. Seriously how can we not be happy to have jobs, insurance, money....the list goes on and on. Trust me I have a friend or two that have fallen on hard times recently and have lost everything. They would die for a job like the one that you and the other rejected people and talking so negative about. Just start loving life and chill out a little!

Not to knock this around but I left a really great company a few years back before they had a layoff. Joined what looked like a great opportunity for 12k more. So, I was making well over 124k a year. I have to tell you that the micro BS was NOT worth it. It was a living breathing HELL. Me and everyone else around me were so stressed that people were sick all the time, on meds, doing drugs, struggling to even get out of the car. It became a joke. Literally, the BS was so thick, you couldn't get out of your car anymore and the computer work was unbelievable. I am dead serious. We all had two, three even four hours a day in reports. No one had a life. After hearing what is going on at Purdue, talking to a few who worked there. I am glad I did not get an offer. I promise you that NO job is going to worth the B.S. you are about to suffer. Good luck. This is the kind of place (with the tools I met) where you are going to have rides every two weeks and have to absolutely in no access areas press the flesh with at least six doctors and close them. Yeah. . . let me know about how that works out when no doctor anymore will even come out and it's not like you have samples.

Totally agree! Americans are so pathetic! You are crying about the make of your FREE car and your poor salary and people are starving and dying all over the rest of the world! You don't deserve to work here!

Go away, you contributed nothing of value. And are you doing anything to alleviate hunger around the world?

Thank you to the other posters for their honest perspectives.

So I had a different experience than many. Purdue interviewer understood sales position and was decent. PDI told me I would NOT hear before Friday- so that was accurate. At the end of the day seems like all PDI did was give them candidates to interview and didn't control who asked the questions. Too bad some recruiters didn't communicate well. Sounds like lots of changes taking place at Purdue so guess time will tell if this is good place to be.
