OverTime Suit Update

Maybe someone who knows can explain how they broke up the states into classes?
Was it done by each state having different work laws?

cut and paste link into your browser, this will clarify. I believe the cases were originally filed in NY and than a year or 2 later in CA, which is why NY& CA employees are def class action members. Also, CA filed after NY so they do not get the same amount of $$

But I don't live in Cali or NY but I do live in a neighboring state...Im confused.

Besides CA and NY, everyone needs to look at their pay stubs to see what their work state is. For people who work and live in 1 state, this is not an issue, but for others who live in neighboring states, it is an issue.
Your pay stub will tell you which "work state" Novartis classified you as, based on where they felt you did majority of your work. Year to year, it may have changed, but you have to use that as a guide as to how your state eligibility will be determined.

There are 2 classes of "Remaining States"...a group of states listed in which you had to have timely opted in, and a second group of "remaining states" in which you were not required to have opted in.

I read it over with a fine tooth comb, as I am a "neighboring rep" of a state, which Novartis f#$@^ed me on, as my "Work state" is not among the "remaining states" not requiring a timely opt in...f&^$#% f%%##& f^^$#....good luck to everyone else though... I am still going to write a letter and plead my case that way

okay out of 99 mil lawyers get 30.4 mil. Yeah that sounds fair. And then there are other costs coming out of it. The people who helped in the case get a decent amount. Maybe we should sue the law firm since we didn't get an opportunity to join the class action and get some real money??? Hate lawyers can you tell.

The lawyers did work on this for 6 yrs , I think they deserve what they got since we sure don't. I'll take the small check i will get but you can't tell me that everyone worked a 40 hr week. I know i accounted for the weekends and nights by taking off early or starting late.

Im sure these lawyers burnt the midnight oil prepping this case.

If you look at the settlement it talks about all the costs and Novartis has to pay something like 170,000 in court costs seperately.
There will be some decent checks to some people in NY and Calif
The naysayers talked the same way about the gender suit and I was very happy with my $30,000 check thank you
