Orlando Meeting

It was actually a pretty good meeting. Certainly a national meeting wasn't necessary but it wasn't a bad meeting. For those of you that are not happy here why not just leave?

Were good people let go during the re-org? For sure but most of the people left are good too. I for one have been pleasantly surprised at how positive the culture in my business unit has been. Happy to be here and hope it only gets better.

You obviously are not in Biomeds. Doesn't matter. CV and MH getting the ax along with more Biomed reps in the spring. CV has the least amount of talent as far as reps go and Biomeds hands down has the worst managers. Osteo just hired an absolute joke of an SD (thanks a lot DR we really needed an airhead running our division). I plan on taking a year or two off after the next layoff or I would be looking right now. Instead just going to ride it out and watch the show. It gets worse every day. Anyone that needs a job is crazy to not be actively looking right now. You are going down with the Titanic.

Lilly should offer a nice severance package to anyone that wants to leave. That's what they should have done this last layoff. People who wanted to leave didn't get the option (though many have left on their own since the layoff). I think they would be shocked to see how many people would take it. It is difficult trying to job search with these massive territories that we have now. It would be much better to have a severance and be able to stay home and job search full time. Then they could replace us with more Source Force and recent college grades who actually think this is a good career choice and company! It's a "win-win"!

Totally agree. Meeting was fine.

Actually I thought this meeting was better then most. We do have decent leadership left- it has been worse in previous years. Most of the talent is in biomed- my manager said that this is well known and we would be taken care of in future realignments. Lilly doesn't want to lose anymore good people. Our pipeline isn't as bad as you all make it seem. And our Alzheimer's medicine is far from dead. The managers are actually very excited about this product. I'm glad I'm still here and excited for the future.

Feeling blessed!

You can get off of CP now Biomeds manager! Everyone knows you have the least amount of talent in the company from the top down.

Worst pharma meeting ever! At the general session you could hear how unengaged the field is. Poor leadership is to be blamed. You can't keep cutting our wages, benefits, and raises without pissing us off. Whatever the company saved in cutting home internet and charging too much for vehicles is lost by unmotivated and energized sales force. It's going through the motions time.

Don't know how the Orlando meeting went, as I left Lilly in July after nineteen years. Bottom line: if you're satisfied with Lilly and feel like you have a future with the company, stay. If you're not satisfied, look around. You will find that there are plenty of jobs out there. Good jobs that pay as well or better than Lilly, with good benefits, good company car package, etc. Companies with good pipelines. Don't put up with something you don't need or want. It's really that simple.

THEIR WAY
Music by Paul Anka, “My Way”, 1969
Words by an unknown Lilly rep

I came, ran all the lists, planned all my calls, followed instructions,
I worked, filed my reports, took all the tests, did my destructions,
I sold, they raised my pay, but may I say not in a fair way,
To earn, a little more, just do it Their Way.

I’ve done so many things for which I know I’ll get no credit,
A promotion to 54 or 56 or 58, you can just forget it,
Recognition for things gone well, someone else will surely get it,
No raise, or even praise, just do it Their Way.

Yes there were times after a call, I would be told ‘that’s not it at all’,
I had my doubts but said OK, they owned the board, I learned to play,
I learned to bend, and in the end, I did it Their Way.

And so, my fine young rep, as the end for me’s approaching,
Where once you had ideas, they criticize, but call it ‘coaching’,
Your brain, has no use here, and your thoughts they won’t be broaching,
Like me, you’ll see the light, and do it Their Way.

For what can you think, what should you do? Just clip your wings, learn to make do,
And if it seems a bit bizarre, don’t cry to me, just call HR,
You’ll get your pay, if every day, you do it Their Way.

Eminence Front, The Who: Ultimate Collection
written by Pete Townshend

The sun shines
People forget
The spray flies as the speedboat glides
People forget
Forget they're hiding
The girls smile
People forget
The snow packs as the skier tracks
People forget
Forget they're hiding.

Behind an eminence front
Eminence front - It's a put-on.
It’s an eminence front
It’s an eminence front – It’s a put-on
An eminence front
Eminence front - put-on
Eminence front
It’s an eminence front
I’ts an eminence front – It’s a put-on
It’s a put-on
It’s a put-on
It’s a put-on

Come and join the party
Dress to kill
Won't you come and join the party
Dress to kill
Dress to kill.

The drinks flow
People forget
That big wheel spins, the hair thins
People forget
Forget they're hiding
The news slows
People forget
The shares crash, hopes are dashed
People forget
Forget they're hiding.

Behind an eminence front
An eminence front - it's a put-on
It is an eminence front
Eminence front – It’s a put-on
An eminence front
An eminence front - put-on
Eminence front
It’s an eminence front - it's a put-on
It’s a put-on
It’s a put-on
It’s a put-on

Come and join the party
Dress to
Come and join the party
Dress to
Come on join the party
Dress to
Come and join the party
Dress to kill

Dress yourself to kill.

Let me guess. Your DM is Rev Jim Jones and he just handed you some funny tasting Kool Aid.

If you were truly blessed you wouldn't be at Lilly !
