Oncology reps are fed up

I have worked as an oncology rep for 15 years now. I have never worked for Merck.

I am posting this because I have been disgusted with Merck and BMS's sales and marketing tactics of their PD-1 inhibitors. The primary care 6 reps per territory rationalized by the greed of your companies upper management as necessary due to multiple indications and more on the way is embarassing and ridiculous to not only your company but the industry in general.

Your companies have started to close more offices and made a difficult access environment worse. Offices frequently complain about so many reps selling the same stuff so I now always make sure to point out I am the only rep promoting my products when scheduling things to make sure I don't get lumped in with your companies herd. It wasn't like this 4-5 years ago before the approval of Opdivo & Keytruda.

Congratulations Merck. You have made oncology tougher for all of us and turned it into a primary care circus. This from the company that has always tried to fancy itself the ethical and responsible industry company.

Merck Oncology now allows for a 2 day work week since we are now 4 up in a territory with an OSKAM, a Nurse Educator, a Reimbursement Associate, a Reimbursement Manager, a CTL, an OMAD, an HSOMAD, an NAE , a specialist in bio-marker testing, DCO’s, a field trainer and a group of marketing talking heads that always want to tag along in the field because they can't stand to be around the leadership morons, and BC. Did I get all the stakeholders who want to glad hand all the customers?... Those customers who don't really even want to see one rep..... Oh shit, I forgot Managed Care pajama champions...

Ah, spoken like a Genentech rep whose candy got eaten away by new science and great data for patients. Thats what's happens when you go from "In Business for Life" to "Member of the Roche group"

Be Thankful you have a excellent drug to promote and overpaid for your services.

Recently had opportunity to meet several Merck folks. All I can say is wow UNIMPRESSIVE! Medicore white dudes and frumpy 50 year old women. Subpar all around.

WOW. What an asshole. Merck is one of the few companies that value women - even if they are 50. Go take your unemployed, sour grape ass elsewhere.

50 year old women working for Merck in the field is excellent.

It the perception the industry creates by hiring Ken and many many cheerleaders/barbies to bring starbucks to offices while the management are living vicariously via the rep modeling agency.

Selling in oncology is an oxymoron.

Great. Just what we need more Merck reps selling pembro. How many accounts have been shut down because of Merck? Too many in my area. You people are a total embarrassment in an industry that already has a massive credibility issue. Enough of your primary care model. Hire some scientists and come up with something new.

What we need is the lowly likes of you off our site. Stick your opinions where the sun doesn't shine

So Merck wouldn’t hire you, right dude? And why are YOU so impressive? Kudos to Merck for not being ageists. One of the few companies hiring older women! Impressive.
