Ultimately, all you will have left is a bunch of people who can "game" the system. Check off the box mentality started here about two or three years ago.
Climate? Horrible, if you are a Hem1. Let's evaluate some things here.
"Gleevec is our competitor." What a great message that the brand team sends to the sales force that still promote Gleevec. I wish the Brand Team for Gleevec would have the balls to stand up at our next meeting and say, Tasigna is our competitor, we need to protect our Gleevec business.
Tasigna is the future of Novartis, so if you are not promoting Tasigna, good luck with your job security, in the HEM division. If you are a Hem 1, you better slow your Tasigna growth, continue to target your Gleevec loyalist, and make sure you hit your numbers, and not worry about making Tasigna do as well as Novartis wants Tasigna to do. Hem 1's are the next to go. Fortunately, most of the Hem 2's are only concerned about the minor ''stuff'' like bid dosing, hoping a qd dose comes out, and trying to say that the black box warning is ''actually a good thing doctor.'' Also, Don't enter your ''GIST Targets'' in Vantage, otherwise they will see exactly how few physicians actually have GIST, and will get rid of this targeting for HEM1's. Really, I didn't sign up for calling on ''non-onc's'' and checking some boxes for making calls on gastros and general surgeons. There were a handful of clowns that did a couple of programs and calls that hit their hit list, and got some valuable BRAVO POINTS. What a joke! BRAVO, really, what a great incentive. It will give them justification on getting rid of GIST, when only a dozen reps enter this checking of the box into our new,great, life changing VANTAGE. Can't wait till our next contest takes place in the beginning of the year! Yeah! I'm telling you, based our our most recent meetings at EH, if you don't defend your Gleevec business, you will look great in the short term, with ''winning'' the newest purple knock out contest, BUT... When it comes to your overall attainment, if you are in the negative performance factor for Gleevec, you will be not only ranked low, but your job will possibly eliminated in the future. As always, it's wise to be in the middle of the pack. You get an average rating of 2-2, you hit your attainment, and your job is secure. Fight like hell if your manager tries to give you any type of 1 rating. A 1 rating is your ticket for looking for another job. Good reps got let go due to one year of a 1, and that is just not right.
Hey Pin Head GIST guy and this only applies to you because I'm a CML guy and my GIST guy gets it. You get credit for EVERY Tasigna script WE get above last quarter's Tasigna scripts as Gleevec scripts. As long as WE'RE growing Tasigna you're growing Gleevec.
