offers-verbal or formal

This is a joke of a recuitment process. Interviews for reps without antipsychotic experience such a waste of time. What the heck was O doing in pulling people in. I'd rather work with someone without antipsych experience than someone from Janssen who has the "holier-than-thou" attitude. Give me a counterpart who never had sold one and I will turn them into an award winner. And I don't want a 30-something "i am entitiled to a job" rep either. I want a hard-working, top ethical colleague. O not hiring either or any from what I hear.

you sound foolish. 30 somethings being entitled? It's called being experienced and in many cases exactly what you're looking for. As a rep who has sold in many therapeutic areas, I can tell you, sold one, sold em' all. The differentiating factor should not be what you've sold but how you sell.

Agreed, but how will Otsuka handle hiring of reps? Start date in my offer letter is June 25. If more safety data is requested, do they plan on keeping us on board, or are we toast?! Serious responses please, I am employed and don't want to give 2 weeks notice and then lose my Otsuka job!

That is my worry too- what if the drug does not get approved? I have a great job that I would leave for a launch opportunity but there is a risk...I have been down this road before....

Well, did anyone ask in their interview what happens if the drug does not receive FDA approval???? Do they have some sort of plan? I currently have a job and can't quit if there is no FDA approval.

Yes, I did ask at the interviews and niether manager, both new hires, had any knowledge of most of the workings of company. No one knows what alternate plan would be and I also don't want to leave a good job for uncertainty. You can not count on products getting approved by the FDA. Just look at how many companies hired on "planned approvals" only to let go people soon after non-approvable letters or requests for more info.

It is scary to "hope" the product gets approval. There is so much uncertainty with the FDA these days.

Above poster I familiar with both Chelsea and Otsuka. Get your facts straight. Chelsea put out offers pending FDA approval so no one had to quit their job prior to approval. Anyone who interviewed with Chelaea knew it was a risk based on the FDA Advisory committee vote. Don't even try to compare Otsuka and Chelsea. Chelsea was preping for the launch of a orphan drug with limited endpoint data. Otsuka is launching Abilify Depot. Abilify is perceived as one of the safest and most effective brands in psychiatric treatment. It will win approval without a problem. Take your negativity elsewhere and don't be upset you didn't make it past the phone interview.

Thank you!!! That's what I thought it was too -someone who was trying to scare people into not taking the job so they could have a shot at it. Cafepharma is so toxic. How do some of you people sleep at night??

Chelsea vs Otsuka. Hey Abilify has been out for...what 9yrs almost( I launched it with BMS), and the submission is for a diff form of the same drug(delivery). Chelsea is a start up with no drugs and this is a first approval so what is the comparision? DA!
