Pfizer leadership alone have destroyed over 100,000 jobs since 2000. I'd be willing to bet that over 238,000 jobs have been destroyed in the pharma industry since 2000 because of the FREE MARKET. Re-read the Fortune magazine article (the issue with the snakes coming out of the capsule-PRICELESS!). Factor in the many things that the writers never even knew about, or those things the editors made the writers take out because it could have led to lawsuits. Multiply by 5 (the number of incompetent counterparts I had selling Lipitor and Viagra in some offices).

I mean, come on, almost none of the people that used to write those banal emails or stand up on stage just 14 years ago are still here. Early retirement (yeah, right!), resignations and terminations spelled the doom of so many. Yet just a few years later, here we are blaming Kindler, or McKinnell, or Obama for our fate.

Per the Fortune article it was Bill Steere who played king maker, sliding McKinnell and then Kindler into the CEO office over better choices. Neither man turned out to be capable of doing the job. They just lavishly spent the tens of billions of Lipitor revenue and left nothing of any substance behind them. Any engineer or lawyer is going to be a disaster as the CEO of a major corporation. I propose that we owe the current mess to Bill Steere.
